I am a thread-posting MACHINE today. I'm sorry if this is annoying.

Some of you might have read the Opiate OD thread I started, when I talked about a batch I got today, did 4 bags, got MAD "tinglies"/pins and needles, pounding headache, my heart was racing, and my hearing got muffled.

A friend of mine did 4 from the same batch, and just got better, no crazy symptoms.

This was 4.5 hours ago. He just called me and said that he did another 4 bags and got what I got the first time -- the tingly feeling so bad that he was itching and thought he was being bitten, the headache, the racing heart, etc.

Could it be that the cut was just poorly distributed about the batch before it was bagged up? What causes the tingly feeling? blahblahblah thought it was a high morphine content, but doesn't heroin metabolise into morphine fairly quickly after it enters the body?

Is there a cut in particular that causes the tinglies? Is it bad for you? Ugh. What a bad feeling. I don't want to put myself in danger here... I thought it was just really high quality stuff and I just did too much, but then when my friend called after doing the same amount again and got all the symptoms I did, I got a little worried.

Any information is appreciated.

damn Other Drugs is just an opiate discussion board now and nothing else.:) not bad bc theyre my fav class of opiates.

i recommend u guys quit fuckin around with that batch unless u want to OD. if it isn't anxiety, it sounds like there is a nasty cut in that shit (think clenbuteral).

I know the exact "tinglies" that you speak of.......Not to scare you, but I usually only felt them when I shot an insane amount at one time; occasionally resulting in OD....

but as far as the specific cause of them????? Not sure.....could be a strong histamine release caused by the dope, or maybe a sudden dampening of CNS (central nervous system) activity....

or like blahblahblah pointed out, excessive morphine content in the smack.........

Could it be a lack of oxygen?

I got the tingles pretty bad once and a bit of a headache and when I notice how shallow my breathing was I thought I was gonna OD. Luckily I was fine, I just focused on my breathing and tried (oh so hard) not to nod off.

So I guess if your tolerance is low, then it may just be really pure dope (as your friend was fine after the first 4 bags, but got the same symptoms after a few more). But if you have a fair tolerance then it may well be pretty badly cut. If that's the case, it's probably better to use another source for a while.

I wish my tolerance was low. I was thinking clenbuterol too, but you'd think there would have been some word about that being around.

Is clenbuterol available via insufflation? I had my boyfriend insufflate 1/2 bag in the interests of science and he felt fine. But then again, my friend did 4 bags IV and was fine, but the next 4 bags (4.5 hours later) were the ones that gave him all these weird symptoms.

Fuck. I am OUT of money... I'll try 2 bags instead of 4, and hopefully I live to make my next post.

Cheers

What are you the re-incarnation of 'center'. lol well at least your posts make sense.

Like I said in another post its possible that its not pure #4 and has some characteristics of a #3 type of dope one with residual morphine still present.

Whenever I shoot straight morphine I get the typical pins and needles rush that is quite distiguishable. I have had a few batches of heroin that had the same type of rush. One batch lasted for almost 2 years and was sent via Nigeria. The dope was yellowish and rocky, the rocks were [for lack of a better term] rock fucking hard. Only once water was added and rigorous aggitation was applied to the rocks would it dissolve [occasionaly I added a pinch of vinager, asorbic acid, etc. to get it to dissolve quicker] which led me to believe it was somewhat similar to a #3 heroin, what really brought me to this conclusion was the strong morphine like rush.

I couldnt tell you for sure whats in your dope but thats my guess. When I had the dope above I would shoot into a leg vein to kill some of the pins and needles type of feeling as when I was shooting large amounts it got a bit unbearable. Snorting the dope should not produce any pins and needles feelings.

Did using an acid as a solvent help at all (ascorbic acid, vinegar, etc.) with the pins and needles?

If pins and needles themselves are not horribly harmful, I don't really mind them (I don't know if they're really bad for you or not). I thought they might be related to the other symptoms I got; the shakiness, muffled hearing, pounding headache, nausea (I finally vomited like 5-6 hours later, no dosing in between), etc.

I did some more recently, kept the dose down and it was a much more manageable experience. While there was not the rush I am accustomed to, it was still a very potent experience -- kind of snuck up on me. I cleaned my rig, thought, "Well, where is it?" And when I turned around and started walking upstairs and all of a sudden I was really high. But no "rush" to speak of -- just sober, then high.

Sounds like morphine?

...this is the most probable explanation IMO, due to the symptoms described. there could be other biomechanisms going on ...but respiratory depression and tinglies go hand in hand.

In the past I've experimented with try to use quinine to potentiate Lopermide while going thru withdrawal. The quinine gave you this strange ringing sensation in your ears.

I've shot dope and had something similar to this... and these particular batches always rushed a lot harder.

After my last OD, my toxicology report showed Quinine in my system and I haven't been to the fish store in years

I get the tingling feeling when I partially miss a shot, or if I take a lot, in which it occurs in my face right as I'm hit.

The "tingling" you describe sounds to me very much like morphine, if the conversion was not 100% some morphine would remain possibly giving rise to the effects you described.

Looks like a few opinions here. I want to focus on just the pins and needles/tinglies feeling -- the other symptoms I described (racing heart, headaches, nausea) were almost definitely due to using too much and the resulting panic.

So in terms of the tingly/pins and needles sensation, let me describe it in a bit more detail in case anyone can identify with what might be going on.

This morning (this would be about 14.5 hours after my last dose) I prepared three bags in the usual way. It's a brown mixture -- not light enough to be tan, but not dark/black/sludgy either. I cook it until I see the last of the macroscopic solids disappear -- maybe about 5-7 seconds. I filter it through a q-tip and it's a transparent brown mixture.

When the q-tip is bone dry, I dip it into the water (cold) and add that to the syringe. I repeat this process once more (for a total of three suctions of solution from q-tip into syringe). My goal with the two extra suctions is to A) make sure that as much of the diacetylmorphine (which is water-soluble) as possible is drawn into the solution, and B) to cool off the solution which might be warm from the cooking.

Then, the injection. Depending on the size of the vein, I may inject more slowly than usual, but even the fastest will deliver 1/2 cc in around 7 seconds.

About 3-4 seconds after I finish, my throat becomes numb.

About 15-20 seconds after I finish, the first hints of the pins and needles/"tinglies" begin. There's usually a whisper of them in my face, and in my upper legs/lower back region.

This morning, for some reason, they were also especially strong in my hands, to the point of discomfort and pain. I kept instinctively rubbing my hands together because they hurt.

Within about 30-60 seconds from beginning, they subside.

I also note that this particular stuff seems to make me more nauseous than the other stuff. The rush also seems less pronounced (but it's still definitely there); the rush experience is also diminished by these uncomfortable tinglies.

There is definitely some opiate content, because my pupils are pinpoint and the acute withdrawal symptoms that come hand-in-hand with waiting 14 hours from my last dose are gone without a trace.

Help? I'm used to feeling maybe one or two tinglies that are closer to an itchy feeling than to an uncomfortable feeling. They're also usually gone before the rush blooms fully, and along with the rush I usually get a taste in my mouth.

But with this stuff, the tinglies are in force when the rush is blooming, I don't notice a taste, and the entire experience for 4-6 hours after the rush is more nauseous and less "warm" and euphoric than what I'm used to.

Sorry to write a novel. Specifically, I'd like to know:

- What's the difference between this and my usual experience? Some people have said morphine, others have said the cut; could it be both? Something else entirely?

- What is physiologically causing the tinglies? People have mentioned that the cut can cause them, or a high morphine content (isn't heroin [diacetylmorphine] metabolized to morphine fairly quickly, though? Why doesn't it cause them too?). Could it be something in my tap water (is using contact solution better than using tap water?)? Could it be the temperature of the solution?

- Are these tingly feelings physiologically harmful? Do they indicate some physiological process?

Any information, or pointers to a source containing more information, would be helpful.

Thanks

I also want to clarify the feeling -- when I say "pins and needles" I'm not talking about the feeling you get when your arm or leg goes to sleep. This is a totally different feeling that comes on seconds after injection and is much more intense than the sleeping-limb sensation.

so hard to diagnose these things ...they aren't well documented enough to say without a medical consultation.

...your symptoms could be anything from stimulation of a nerve surrounding the injection site ...to a blood clot in lungs/neck/veins ...dunno.
You might need tests. Since i'm not a doctor ...
I'm not aware of hematological implications of intravenous drug use.

Using tap water is so not an good idea. There was a recent thread about this. Not even boiled tap water. Use sterile saline from the pharmacy. Tap water contains minerals and some metals ...that remain after boiling. This could cause chemical imbalances ..which could lead to abnormal symptoms of "poisioning"/overdose also.

Morphine can cause the tinglies ...so can respiratory depression or abnormal heart rhythms.

No one will be able to diagnose the specific cause without ruling out possible medical conditions ...such as those specified.

I wish there was an inexpensive way for you to confidentially receive medical assessment.
Move to Canada!?!
Good luck, wish i could help more
...but I don't want to outstep my bounds with the possibilities and outcomes.:\

Thanks, I appreciate your help.

If it was stimulation of a surrounding nerve, why would the tinglies occur all over the body?

The only sterile saline I can find is meant for contact lenses. Is such a solution acceptable for use? Is it better or worse than tap water? I have heard arguments for and against using contact solution in this way (both better and worse than tap water).

My heart rhythm does not change during these episodes. Also, the doses are much lower than doses I've endured in the past, which seems to rule out respiratory depression.

The lack of rush does seem to point to a high morphine content. Alas. I need to get out of this scene, and fast. Hopefully this weekend's attempt to switch to suboxone is successful.

Thanks again for all your help.

MS meaning Morphine Sulfate?

Yep. There's probably just a good amount of unreacted morphine in that batch (though, it's probably the acetate salt).
How you described the "tingly" feeling, the duration of it, and the fact that after it dissipates you still got a nice rush out of it, and you feel opiate effects, sounds just like morphine to me... :\

Well, better than nerve damage or a heart problem, huh?

Thanks for your help. At least it keeps me well.
