IV Heroin to Swallowed Oxycodone equivalence

My friend has only done oxycodone as far as opiates go, and though i've tried to talk him out of it, he is insistent on trying IV heroin.

I want to make sure he doesnt OD or just take too much and get sick, so for the sake of harm reduction... If a person usually swallows oxycodone and has a tolerance of 70-80 mg, how many mg or g of black tar heroin should he inject? We have a scale so we can measure it out. I know it cant be said for sure because the purity is unknown and all that, but how ABOUT much black tar heroin iv'ed will he need to feel similar to 70-80 mg of oxy swallowed?

^Exactly, there's absolutely no way to tell since purity varies SO much with heroin and each person is going to be different as well.

The only thing to do is to start with a very tiny amount of heroin. You can always use more if it's not enough, but you can easily die if it's too much. When I first started using IV just 10mg was enough to get me plenty high, (however I didn't have very much of an opioid tolerance at that point and it may have been really good dope, so YMMV). I would say do a test shot with 10mg. Then you will at least be able to see if that did absolutely nothing, or if it did something but wasn't where you wanted to be, or if it did a lot, and then you can better gauge an appropriate dose. You can do more like 5 minutes later if you feel nothing, or if feel a decent high coming on maybe wait a 15-20min just to make sure you are feeling the full effects before deciding whether you want to do more. Always take less than you think you will need until you are very familiar with this heroin and ROA, and always be careful and err on the side of caution. Any time you get a new batch or haven't used in a while do a tiny test shot first. The 2 times I forgot to do that I ended up in the hospital.

Of course it would be a safer idea to snort (waterline) or smoke the heroin, especially when you have never used heroin before. IV heroin is a fast track to serious addiction. 1 in 4 people who even try heroin once end up addicted, and I'm sure that rate is higher for IV. Not to mention there are so many risks associated with IV.

Please research safe injection technique and learn as much as you can about IV and heroin before attempting this. If you have any questions about the injection procedure don't hesitate to ask. Make sure you have plenty of syringes on hand and use a new one for every injection.
