Hey, so I know many many questions have been asked about IV complications but through my searching I haven't been able to find a definite answer.
So I have had to start rotating between even more veins because my IV use has started to increase more and more (We know how that goes..) I'm shooting powder heroin on the East Coast. I attempted to shoot about 2 bags with 25ish units of water into the vein on the back of my left hand. I registered, but it immediately started to sting so I didnt get very much in when I pulled out.
I then attempted to shoot in the left vein on my wrist (same hand), registered-got some in and must've fallen out because it started to sting really bad, so I stopped. My actual vein started to swell really bad..was white and raised and hot hot hot.
Both injection sites were very swollen, red and hot to the touch after but with no pain. This was yesterday about 945am. This morning it was still warm but started to become tender/slightly painful when touched.
Originally I thought it was an abscess forming but at this point the swelling has gone down 90%, the warmth down about 97% and it may or may not be a little bit red..if so it just barely and is hard to see. The pain when touched has also diminished significantly.
Do you think it can still be an abscess forming? Just a reaction from a missed shot? I'm more perplexed because it seems to keep getting better and better and NOT worse yet I still have these symptoms 36 hours after the fact.
I know I can't get a definite answer but any input would be greatly appreciated. I shot up by myself and don't really know anyone that does it anymore so I rely on researching the web.
Thank ya'all!
Hey Mods, I am editing this because I am not sure if this is too self serving for this forum? At first I thought someone else that had these symptoms could benefit from other"s opinions or is it too specific/refers to just me? I'm terribly sorry if it doesn't work..please lmk and I will do what I can to fix it.
