IV coke

This is really just a guess...

I would think that the blood rushing to your head, as caused by the nearly instantaneous onset of the cocaine rush, causes the ear ringing.

Since such a swift and all-at-once affect isn't possible via any other form of administration, 'ear-ringing' only occurs when cocaine is injected.

Cocaine has more cardiovascular effects than any other recreational drug that is injected. Thus you only get that intense rush of blood to the head with IV coke.

Good point, smoking could do it too I bet. :)

Actually, in some cases smoking a drug can make it hit more quickly than IVing it. I know it is the case for meth (they actually did a study on it -- wouldn't that be a fun study to participate in!).

I've read something about "the ringer" being atributed to the calcium channel blocking effects that high doses of cocaine have. I'll try to find where I read that and post a link.

On a slightly related topic, how does the smell of the drug get to your ofactory senses so quickly when you iv coke?

I get a fairly strong smell filling my senses just after I push the plunger...

Just posted another IV Coke topic.

Taste and smell are linked. I would not classify it as smell...more as a taste, but fleeting, and it seems to come from the inside. Unlike putting something in your mouth. Very unique and hard to describe.

Someone I know recently had some plastic surgery, and as the doc said, 'Now, you are going to experience a garlic like taste.' They said that sodium pentathol was used as part of the anesthesia process. I believe that they 'garlic' was the sodium pentathol being administered. That was one of the last things she remembers before being knocked out.

Correct me if I'm wrong here. Your veins are green because the blood that travels thru them is very dark, almost purplish. This is due to the lack of oxygen in the blood. Your veins travel to capillaries in your lungs, which enriches the blood with oxygen which then shoots to the brain. I'm guessing that when the substance reaches the lungs that will attribute the 'taste'. It's such a unique sense. It's a taste, but having nothing to do with the mouth, or a smell that has nothing to do with your nose. But it's like a breathe that comes from within. DEFINITELY my favorite aspect of booting H.

Why is it that I ALWAYS taste H, but have never tasted coke?

so i always hear people talking about how they get ringin in their ears when they iv, but the last time i did coke i did approximately .5g in two lines insufl.(.25 up each side) and when it hit i experienced a slight ringing in my ears, nothing as intense as what the ringing through iv is like (from what i have heard -i have never ived. perhaps ill try and see if the ringing is similar) since then i have been wondering if the ringing in the ears really is only experienced thru iv.

is it possible that the ringing is just a common side effect of coke when administered in large enough doses?

it seems likely to me. when u iv it may still be smaller amounts but that is going straight into ur bloodstream so perhaps when insuf. large lines you can absorb enough to produce the ringing effect.

but since im not experienced with iv administration of this drug i might be wrong... however like i said i did experience e.r-ing when just insuf. larger doses than i normally do. (i was smoking a ciggarrette too tho which i usually dont but i doubt that would cause it)

as far as the exact physiological cause my guess is as good as anyones. maybe the extra neurotransmitters are reacting with parts of the brain that control our auditory senses, or perhaps its the constriction of blood vessels in our inner & middle ear. or maybe it is just the intial rush..

just my 2¢ on this topic.
