Hey,
First of all, I am new here and I am not sure which part of the forum is right for this thread, I believe I am in the right place, but if not just let me know and ill delete/ move the post.
So, I have been shooting coke for the past week or so. I use heroin everyday but the coke is every once in a while. I am usually very good at finding a vein and that whole process but two days ago, I missed twice with a shot of coke Both times in my right arm. The first time was on the side of my fore arm, where I missed very little, maybe 5 units. Then, on the inside of my elbow I missed a lot of the shot, probably 20 units! Usually if I miss a shot it goes away on it's own, but that is not the case this time. In both injection sites there are raised red bumps (the one in my elbow being a lot bigger, it feels slightly smaller than a ping pong ball and when i put my arm straight out and lock my elbow it is raised probably 1/2 inch. The one on my fore arm is not even close to as bad, but it does have a red ring the size of a tennis ball around it. They are both painful. especially my elbow. Yesterday they were both half the severity and also just painful to the touch. Now its just a throbbing pain and keeps getting worse. I think they are abscesses, but not sure. Somehow I have never had one in the 6 or so years I have been using IV drugs.

I know that I should see a doctor, and most likely will today, but I wanted to see what you guys think. I am thinking that whatever cut was in the coke is what is causing this. Has this happened to anyone else? Did it go away on it's own? I did a little research on abscesses and it seems if it is a sterile abscess it will go away on its own,, but if it is infected it can be very dangerous. I will post a pic of my arm in another post, I just need to take one. Let me know what you think. Thanks for the help!

The best advice anyone is going to give you is that you need to be treated at a hospital.

I was going to go to an urgent care, but my buddy convinced me to go to the hospital. It took 4 hours to get a prescription of antibiotics and a 20 minute lecture from the doctor about the risks of IV drugs and how I should stop. (If it was that easy buddy... They basically said they can't do anything but give me antibiotics and to come back if it gets worse. I feel like the doctor had no idea what it was or what he was talking about. I feel like hospitals and/ or doctors are in general not prepared or informed enough about substance abuse related issues. But I guess that's a whole 'nother topic. Hopefully it gets better 8( I have work tomorrow and definitaly won't be able to go if it hurts as bad as it does today. Thanks for the responses
