Heroin It's Possible to Kick!

Just so you know, it's frowned upon to post prices in this forum :-) Also how many dollars you spent tells us absolutely nothing. If you want to convey how much you were using explain it in grams per day.

So proud of you for quitting! Keep it up and remember not to convince yourself you can use "just one more time" and you'll do great! Good luck to you :-)

Sorry... didn't know.... :( I usued a couple grams a day, but i'd sick with a gram or less. used a lott, got some good finds. too much for me now.

I think it's a little too early for you to be the champion for getting clean... hah. You're not even through your withdrawal yet and are already pulling out in the inspirational slogans. Have you ever tried to get clean before and failed, or is this your first time? You've only been using a year, so it wouldn't be surprising if you just used straight through without trying to kick. I like your enthusiasm, but coming from someone whose only used 1 year and isn't even through their kick, I'm not totally convinced or made to feel better about anything... No offense.

Thank you xanax.. haha. This is wrong, I used about a gram on a really good day. usually more like a half.

True, I guess I'm not, but I just felt like posting this to show that it's possible, even though I guess it hasn't been that long.

I'm on day 5 now, and the last time I used was the night before day 1 of quitting. I was hopeing withdrawals would be over by now, they are for the most part, but i still got these intense chills, and just really bored and shit.

Haha, not ANY addictive substance. With a lot of them that "pink cloud" doesn't arrive for a hell of a lot longer. Take methadone for example, at day 4 you'd be wanting to kill yourself and the only reason you don't is that you're too sick and weak to even be able to do it. I do know what you mean though, there is always a period when people feel really proud of themselves for quitting and think they will never use again and it suddenly feels easy, but I'm just explaining that when that occurs greatly varies from substance to substance, and person to person.

The thing about opiates is that the severity (and length) of withdrawal really depends on the person, how long you have been taking it, how much you've been taking, (and of course which opiate it is). Someone who has been using 0.1g heroin for 2 months is going to have an entirely different experience quitting than someone who's been using 3g for 20 years. My advice to anyone even considering quitting is do it now, because it will only get worse.

Some of us are legitimately in a position where the hardest part IS the withdrawal (which in my opinion also includes all the mental/emotional effects).

ETA: Congrats to the OP by the way. Don't let anyone minimize your accomplishment, just don't get over-confident either. Remind yourself constantly about all the things you didn't like about using and how the withdrawal felt and why you never want to use again. Good luck :-)

You're right, there are plenty of substances which have longer periods between quitting and pink cloud. While I've never used it myself, hydromorphone comes to mind. I've read horror stories of people vomiting for three weeks on hydromorphone withdrawal. I wasn't trying to suggest that everyone experiences something similar around four days as I was trying to suggest that for just about everyone, there will be a "pink cloud" period. As for the difficulty of the WD, I never meant to imply that WD isn't the hardest part. Rather, I use the term "relapse" with regards to someone returning to a drug they are quitting due to a failure to break the psychological addiction post-WD.

Thank you for fixing my errors :)

Congrats OP! It's always great to see the underdog come out in this David vs. Goliath matchup.

I am on day 13 kicking an 160mg oxy habit, 3 years, insuffulation only. Being 24 and never had blood drawn and rarely getting shots I'm deathly afraid of the needle.

Of course I did use suboxone..I started at 4mg 13 days ago and am now down to 1mg. I wanted the sub just for the physical I'm really hoping I can jump off completely by the end of the week.

However not even being off these demons will restore the friendships I've lost, the relationships I've ruined, my reputation as a junkie, or the thousands and I mean 5 figures that I have spent. No one understands but other opiate addicts it's so hard to relate to the friends I have left.

You should try to keep yourself occupied with something productive like school or work, cut out any triggers like places or people you used to get high around, and try to exercise and eat right as much as possible. This will give you some serious flex to kick addiction's ass back where it came from.

Good luck, OP! And congrats on the kick! :D

^That's good advice.

Congrats to the OP. Happy to hear a success story. Not quite ready for mine yet... lol.

Keep on going!

Congrats to you and yes even though u only conquered part of this battle its still a win and acute withdrawals put enough fear in people to not quit. This is a long process but dont let anyone make you think less of the accomplishment you have made. The pink cloud is different for everyone I experianced it 5 days after a 120 mg roxi habit for 3 yrs. and than I experanced that on day 10. After a relapse wih the same habit. Currently getting off oxymorphone. And im taking suboxone cause everytime ibtried to kick that crap i thought i was dying. For real. Good for you and keep it going to much time money. Is wasted on destroting your mind and body

Don't actually have much to contribute, just wanted to say good job man. You may not be over with the w/d (and what comes after) but you've still done a lot. :)
