It's Not What You Know...

A young Trevor Horn exemplifying the use of the studio as an instrument

I never got to meet Bob Calvert, but a few BLers have had that pleasure. Such a creative person and someone I still miss every single day. BTW used the original album version. Far less slick but with a delicate beauty.

I recognize that avant guard jazz can be quite 'difficult' for many people. When Miles Davis released 'On The Corner' he was roundly condemned for making 'popular music' BUT in the last decade a lot of revisionism has taken place and what was once considered the very worst album Miles ever made is now considered a vitally important work - giving us mere mortal an understanding of free jazz. I loved it the moment I heard it.

Possibly NSFW since at the time, Marianne Faithfull was to put it mildy 'a heroin enthusiast' who was living ON A WALL at the time.

How the fuck you know about this guy????!!!!!!

My #1 pick by him ever.

I first heard Yamataka Eye in a Naked City album of my dad’s when I was a young kid. Hearing that when really young was a real influence to my musical taste later on.

I can’t listen to this album too much anymore, as I really associate it with my poppyseed days. Great music though.
