I don't know if it's commonly known but apparently Jack White likes the works of Steve Reich (I have posted several of his pieces). The simple goal - a song with NO chords.,

I don't know how widely known this factoid is, but in truth, it was Psychik TV who released two seminal 'compilation' CDs with each track credited to a different artist. The truth is, it's ALL Psychik TV. Someone simply offered them whatever people like Genesis P. Orrage wanted and voila - every parents nightmare. An entire genre of electronic music with the word ACID in it.
