"It's natural and grows in the ground" is such a weak pro-marijuana argument.

I always see this when people are defending weed. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE weed and would like nothing more than to see it completely legalized everywhere, but that is a very weak reason to use in a debate about it.
Opium is also a natural plant that grows in the ground and yet it's killed millions of people over the past 1000 years. (heroin ODs count too due to it being made from opium)

Datura is a natural plant that grows in the ground, but consuming it can kill you or at least make you a drooling shell of a human for a few days. The list goes on and on. There's plenty of better pro-weed arguments out there to use.

QFT mandrake root is natural and it grows in the ground. anyone who uses this argument should try some mandrake root :)

Agree. There's a metric shit-ton of natural stuff like plants and mushrooms that'll kill you before you have time to dial 911.

The best pro-weed argument there is, and the one that almost everyone should use, is "I want to get high without the Man on my ass like the rest of society". Its relatively low harm factor is good, but most people can forget all the crap about, for instance, medical marijuana, since 95% of people just want it to be legal so they can get baked without having to worry about losing their job or getting their house searched by the cops. And I think that's as good a reason as you need.

I think if you take the religious viewpoint that god gave it to us as a natural plant that grows in natural earth, then we should have the right to use it as we please then that is a valid argument IMO. However, using the argument that it should be legal just because it's natural is a bit lame, I agree.

The argument that natural things are somehow safer then synthetics is silly.

However, I think that outlawing plants is more ridiculous then outlawing synthetics. Plants grow from the ground, they would do this with or without humans. The arrogance of humans trying to "outlaw" something that we had no part in creating is ridiculous. Plants grow on their own, they aren't manufactured to use they just happen to grow and we figured out you can use them.

Outlawing any drug is ridiculous, but the fact that marijuana grows out of the ground and in the wild makes it especially ridiculous to outlaw it. Humans trying to meddle with nature.

Poppies are a good example. There are tons of drug laws about opiates, but even if growing poppies was made illegal they would still grow. They would sprout in yards, fields, along highways and all over the place, regardless of whether or not humans are consuming them. They aren't ours to make illegal. Synthetics were created by a human and if no humans made them they wouldn't exist.

It's not that plants are less dangerous, it's that we aren't the ones who made plants or the caretakers of plants. Plants are not the property of man to ban or legalize, they are a part of the planet's natural ecosystems.

Exactly. To ban a plant produced by nature and then demonize it and refer to it as being 'evil' as if it's a conscious entity there to destroy peoples' lives is absurd. Similarly, patenting plant strains and companies behaving as if they own a whole plant variety/strain is peverse IMO. The fact that this is the only way they can profit from the plants is sick IMO. It all started with plant variety rights and will end up with companies putting terminator genes in plants' genomes so they are literally the only people that can supply the plants and are able to push farmers to the point of suicide because they are not able to operate sustainably on their own without lining the pockets of big corporations.

Get a fucking life. I was strung out on opiates and benzo's. And quit that shit and came back to weed and it worked just as good as before. So why am I pro marijuana? Because i'm pro life and pro against benzo's. Kick a benzo habbit then get back to me. Poppies grow in the ground, everything comes from nature in one way or another.

I can use weed to relax instead of taking benzo's. I can use weed to feel good instead of taking opiates. The only problem i've seen with smoking is the tendency to over induldge and loose some of it's benefits. That problems easily fixed by smoking less.

It would be much better to see people smoking it instead of taking shit loads of different benzo's and opiates.

Everything is natural! Some chemicals are more damaging for humans than others regardless of whether they are synthetic or not. I agree its such a poor pro weed statement, death caps grow in the ground aswell haha.
