So we're talking "not-so-oldies" here.

In that case, you all should check Andre Williams, Little Willie John, Nathaniel Mayer, and Eddie Bo.

To me, oldies evoke the simpler times between WWII and Vietnam. A time when the US wasn't at war. Think surf and early motown. Sock hops and hot rods. Milkshakes with two straws and poodle skirts. The music continued into the time of the Vietnam war but became replaced more and more by music of rebellion. I dunno... I know it when I hear it. There's a certain carefree element to it that became lost over time as more and more young people were sent to die halfway across the world. Nostalgia for an era I never experienced, I suppose.
