I'm puzzled. Every so often we are warned of a dangerous/harmful pill that is going about. The one that comes to mind is the yellow pill tested in Amsterdam at the end of January. It contained 8mg of strycnine, when 5-10mg can be fatal. We all know pills are not made singularly but in batches. So, what happened to all the other pills from this batch? Surely people would have been dying in clubs all over Amsterdam if they were out there? I also read of a potentially fatal batch of 25000 pills that was seized in France (I think). Are they saying that had they not seized this batch there would have been 1000's of people becoming very ill or even dying after taking them? We hear of the odd person who has a bad reaction to a pill and maybe ended up in hospital. But, as there has never been a case of mass-poisoning through pills I can't really believe these stories. What do you think? Scare stories or what?

The yellow strychnine pill was a hoax.
Someone wanted to create some stir (is that the right word ?) and actually managed to do so.
There are no strychnine pills around.

Yes, we had heard it already but it was also confirmed in Dutch (quality) newspaper NRC yesterday by a harmreduction guy.

However, still many pills are being tested.

Now we have institutions where people can bring in pills. Known pills are quickly identified. unknown pills go to the lab (They have a huge database with all the pills, many years).
At this moment about 70% of pills tested contain mdma. Much better than before, it used to be 30% a few years ago.
Then a bit about raids anfd that raiding hardly has effect on the market.
Also, the dosage has gone down.
Pills contain lower dosages of mdma these days.
Then something about 14 dead people in The netherlands last year, not because of the use of xtc but most died because of dehydration/exhaustion.
They conclude that water should always be freely available at parties.
If that had been the case, maybe these people had not died thsi weekend.

A well read daily newspaper in the UK carried a report about XTC not long after that strychnine post including a quote (from a well known anti-XTC campaigner) that a "batch of strychnine pills were seized in the north of England". Strangely though, there was no police report/statement on this matter. Just goes to show how rumours get started though...................

Yeah, you hear of these potentially fatal batches being seized, presumably 1000's of pills in a batch. Isn't it strange how these 'killer' pills never find their way into the clubs? We've all read reports of people being taken ill or even dying after taking xtc but there's never more than one person involved at any one time. This does point to it being dehydration/exhaustion rather than 'bad' pills.

I know there are pills like this out there. I think most people can handle a pill or two of these but for those that over do it without trying them out first you can get really really sick. For instance. Sometime around Oct.- Nov. I got these yellow pills called "yellow sunshine's". I think it had a flower or sun on it or something. Anyway, I took 2 and after about 2 hours I was completely retarded. This was not E, and it wasn't DXM because I've had those crappy clovers before. This was totally different. It was almost like an acid trip but wrong. It wasn't like mesc either. I couldn't even walk for 6 hours, my legs felt like rubber and my vision was blurred for 2 days after! Walking felt like I was walking for the first time ever. Everyone I talked to got the same way. Then I found out that a friend of mine took like 6 at another club that night and had to go the hospital. The doctors said that he ingested strychnine. I'm sure they were right. Usually I'd say that they just couldn't handle it but from taking them myself I know that these pills were dangerous. The funny thing though, besides the fact that I felt like I was going to throw up for like an hour, I kinda liked it! But I'm nuts.
Ya know, it really sounds like your pills had scopolamine in them, wedgemaster. The whole thing sounds very similar, especially the blurry vision for 2 days. Read some trip reports about datura or henbane at Erowid and see if they don't sound like what happened to you.
