irritable bowel
they don't know what causes that
a lot of times, other than alcohol, doctors don't know what causes pancreatitis
they just try to treat it
and part of that is pain management
kidney stones - no clue why that happens
appendicitis - nope we don't know what happened there either
it's pretty much your job to figure out whats causing most of your ailments
and that can take years to figure out because our diets are screwed up to start with, right?
I don't know I would go as far to say medicine is cluelses about those conditions.
I do appreciate your sentiment, tho. You really do have to be your own healthcare
advocate. Many doctors will indeed fobb you off. Research and persistence can really pay off.
I learned a lot about oxalates a couple years back ( more importantly the dangers of consuming too many) . I noticed I had cloudy urine out of the blue and was able to pinpoint it was because I was eating a stupid amount of cinnamon that's ridiculously high in oxalates ( can cause kidney issues/stones). My doctor just brushed me off when labs came back normal, but I keep searching until I figured out what the deal was. Cut that cinnamon ( and oxalates) and the cloudiness followed suit and disappeared.
I've found from my experience just about everything is best in moderation.
Likewise, when trying to figure out what in your diet may be working against you start with those items you consume most of.
