best place i ever shroomed was an old, abandoned apartment building in los angeles. nobody lived there, but a lot of people had left personal belongings behind.
family photographs, old calendars on the wall.
it was kind of surreal.
we worked our way through the building and up to the roof.
a grey sky, but beautiful.
then we went to the stairwell and clambered down four flights of stairs real fast, like being inside a kaleidoscope, tumbling down into the basement.
silence.
darkness.
a tattered newspaper clipping pinned at eye level on the wall. only i noticed it.
a painting by a child prodigy from latin america, according to the text under the illustration. it showed a starving boy holding out an empty bowl. behind the boy were stretched thousands of other children holding up empty bowls. all of them silently, stoically pleading. staring at the picture - for a few seconds, but i'll remember it forever - it became the center of the trip... everything worked towards that moment, and then everything flowed from it... like rings circling a pebble in a pond.
i'm still on the outer ring, falling.
