It is possible to trip without drugs...

Well, I learnt this tripping on DXM that it is possible to achieve the same experience without drugs. In the end, I've found psychedelics (especially with disassociation) lead me to an awakened state where I am aligned with all faces of me (this is after you get past the cool colours, etc. perhaps this is what people mean by "breaking through"). When that happens (let's call it an awakening) I find that with some self hypnotic suggestions I can put myself immediately into a trance state and access the memories of the trip and I go through the same experience of tripping.

I've definitely tripped without drugs, mainly in intense, prolonged meditation sessions. A few months ago I was on a high dose trip with my two closest friends and we usually meditate during our trips. We were in a small, pitch black room and I was leading the three of us through some spoken guided meditation, but everything that I was saying was completely stream of consciousness so it was just as powerful for me as it was for them, possibly more, because I didn't know where I was going to take my mind. Each step was a surprise. I ended up having an amazing experience with that session and afterwards I wrote down all of the things that I was saying. Now, a few months after, I still practice the meditation thought that I created during that trip, except while sober, and it brings me back to the same place when I really get immersed in it. I used to be skeptical of meditation, but when you really immerse yourself in it, it can be very powerful.

Your brain produces it's own DMT, phenethylamines and tryptamines. That's right, schedule one Dimethyltryptamine is produced naturally by the brain so you are illegal just sitting there!

Just stay awake for 48 hours and you'll potentially see some of the strangest hallucinations. They don't look like anything you see on shrooms or acid. They look real. I was a guard in the military in a different life and on more than one occasion I stayed up for more than 2 days. I remember looking at my hands and they were covered in cobwebs. I knew it wasn't real so I'd shake it off and then look back at my hands and the cobwebs were back. I looked at a tree and saw an old woman looking at me. Same thing, I'd shake it off and look again and the old lady would be back. I think the technical term for these kind of hallucinations is delirium.

Please, for fucks sake, do not encourage people to stay up for 48 hours just to experience a nasty delirium.

I don,t think it is possible, I mean it is possible to experience altered states of consciousness without drugs, hit you thumb with a hammer, fall in love, get tropical fever, dysentery, fall out of love, bury a child... these are all different from normal states of day to day reality but I still would not class any of them as "Tripping".

Yoga, Tantric sex, Meditation... hmmm maybe, but it still wouldn't call it tripping, To me tripping is something specific and unique to psychedelics such as LSD, mescaline, Mushrooms, MDMA etc.. all these other methods don't even come close IMO.

I think the chance that someone who reads Bluelight will read my post and decide to stay up for 48 hours because they want to see the cobwebs is about zero.

In quantities that are too small to have any effect whatsoever...

I'm sure that is normally true. But no less than Dr. Strassman has speculated that naturally produced DMT trips from DMT produced by the brain, may explain stories of alien abductions.

DMT is an endogenous chemical and, according to Strassman, is part of the chemistry of the pineal gland situated just below the brain. It is conceivable that, under certain conditions, DMT production is accelerated and it is released into the brain environment. The result could be an abduction experience in the spirit world involving some of the beings described by Hancock and others. John Mack, a psychiatrist who studied the abduction phenomenon, learned that many abductions from people's homes take place in the early morning hours. Strassman notes that this is when the pineal gland is most active. Perhaps early morning DMT production facilitates alien encounters in predisposed individuals.

Everyone in this thread knows about this and to be frank, no one cares. It's unsubstantiated and not proper to go around speaking like gospel.

Don't underestimate the stupidity of people.

Yeah I've only tripped without drugs when I didn't sleep for a few days or more.... Let's just say it wasn't fun and it was pretty scary. Other than that I wouldn't recommend you do that. Not good for the mind or body.
