I was lucky it was a solid FMJ, a hollow point would’ve been much worse. Probably would’ve taken a good chunk of my face with it.

On topic.. I was also wondering why the exit wound was smaller. You’re right the fact it was FMJ might’ve been one more factor that saved your life. Idk if your a spiritual/religious type but to me it looks like you got a guardian watching over you.

No way people get prosecuted for drugs 327 more than the U.S.? I've had literal hard drugs on me (as much as an ounce) and only had it confiscated.
Having said that, I agree with you about drugs laws in general here. They are extremely strict and often ridiculous.
Cannabis was a Class C drug (lowest class of the illicit drugs) and they actually bumped it UP to a Class B purely because they think using it will make people more likely to use harder drugs :/

I let this go at first because I didn't want to further derail the thread but the UK consistently and absolutely blows away the US in reported hate crime numbers. The numbers were like 8,000 in US 2021(last reported) compared to 122,000 in UK and 155,000 the next year. Not even close despite a significantly smaller population. Its as if the media implies something enough then everybody will begin to believes it and then they repeat it as if it is fact without even checking the actual numbers. I just couldn't let this false impression of the US go unchecked.

....and how can anyone, much less someone living in the UK categorically say, who fears walking outside more in a country for which they have no personal knowledge.....lol.... Do you have a magical fear measuring device that can be tuned to UK and US coordinates? Is this a qualitative or quantitative measurement?

Goddamn man glad you are ok now that is fucked up. reminds me of a few people where i live who committed suicide by firearm and it took quite awile for them to die which is fucked up. Even using a shotgun or rifle its far from a instant death. That shit scares the shit out of me i can't imagine that. I am very anti suicide anyway unless you have some shit like terminal cancer then it's understandable But really as long as your above ground shit can be fixed. im glad you turned your life around man thats fucking great.

Just so I'm clear here, are you saying that in 2021 there was 8000 total reported hate crimes in the U.S. and 122,000 total reported hate crimes in the UK? That seems crazy considering the population of the U.S. in hundreds of times larger than that of the UK.**

The reason I had said otherwise is that you VERY rarely ever hear of hate crimes here (UK). Like on the News, online etc. Very rarely. As a queer person I have never been hate crimed and nor have any of the other queer people I know. Nor have any of my POC friends.
I guess I just live in a tolerant city? (although it's actually known in the UK as being very rough, whether it deserved that reputation or not) or hate crimes are extremely underreported.

**Not saying I don't believe you, just saying it is EXTREMELY different to my experience living there. That is the same as SEVERAL MILLION hate crimes in one year in the U.S.

I actually just found a source that gives the US 15,000 some odd reported hate crimes in 2020 but yes, you can Google the stats. I was just as surprised and a bit confused by the numbers I was finding.

I'm sure the UK is a tolerant country. Just as I know the United States is generally a tolerant country. It's easy to have our perceptions distorted by modern media. It does seem that the numbers have been on the rise but I believe a lot of that is self perpetuating. People generally find what it is that they're looking for.

I’m so glad you survived. I’ve been in that same position, making the choice to die and going Through with it, only to look death in the face and realize I wanted to live. It’s not something many people can understand and you’re so lucky to have had, and still have, people who love you by your side. It’s sad we don’t always see how loved we are until we almost don’t make it and have to face our loved ones and see the pain it caused them, the thought of losing us. There’s so many other ways to seek help regardless of how bad any situation may seem. Death is never the answer and you obviously were meant to be here a little longer. 💖

Wow man, I'm very grateful that you made it through that. I've had far too many close calls with death, although maybe not quite as close as that, but that's incredible that your wife ended up saving you like that. Good on you for getting better, I hope you cherish your second chance.

I’d love to know how you stopped beating yourself up. I really struggle with that, especially in certain moods or after drinking.
