Fwiw there are clips of Netanyahu saying how he thinks it is (was) in Israel's interest to maintain the dominance of Hamas and its thought that he thinks this because Hamas are much less likely to achieve legitimate Palestinian statehood in the eyes of the world with their violent methods than a rival like Fatah. Given the de facto statehood of Gaza and the disaster this has been for Israel, its not a stretch to see why he may be opposed to sharing a border with a state that wishes to exterminate its neighbour.
There is massive daylight between what a corrupt politican like Netanyahu says and whether innocent Israelis should be killed because of that, or that Israel are responsible for October 7th. Netanyahu and his government must bear some burden of responsibility, but simply resigning or dissolving the government wouldn't be enough and would have simply made israel even more vulnerable. That he made mistakes is absolutely true though.
To my mind, he should have said he would step down after eradicating the proximate existential threat. Both Hamas and a corrupt egomaniac like Netanyahu are threats to the people of Israel, but it's only wise to deal with the most pressing threat first. And despite his corruption, the war upon Gaza isn't a corrupt act- it is the same thing that any leader in any other nation would do if faced by the same situation.
