Is your house clean?

Going to move this over to Second Opinion as you'll probably get more/better responses over there. :P

BTW, there's currently a housework thread that may prove to be an interesting read! (Some people are just slobs. :P)

HL -----------> SO

Well, my wife loves to clean. When I got raided by the police, they told me and I quote, "You are the cleanest junkies I have ever seen."

"you are the most honest cops ive said goodbye too."

my greatest hurdle is "Grow-Gear", all the crap i use to grow me meds with, so i can actually get-on-it. i have fun doing anything.......k???

We are not by any means messy but we are "lived in" We have kids, so everything usually looks clean but there are a few toys here and there. I have a housekeeper that cleans 3 x a week and in between her coming I clean.

If you have carpets, vacuuming twice a month doesn't seem like enough? I guess if you do not have kids or pets then it is enough? I don't have carpets so it's all hard wood so I am not sure on this though.

I grew up in the dirtiest most pig stye of a home. We were poor and my mom and dad were hoarders.

Now I am not a clean freak but everything gets clean and I keep the clutter to a minimum. I think I am the only person in the world that has a vaccuum to clean her vaccuum.

Depending on my pain level will depend on the degree on how clean my house is.

I keep my place kinda messy, clutter-wise, when I'm busy and just going to and fro, but I always organize it at least once a week, and then bust out the oxyclean (original OC!) the swiffer wet jet mop, and the vacuum, blast some instrumental music (because lyrics distract me), and go to town. It's a great time!

Do you have pets? The wet jet solution isn't good for their paws (or them in general) if they walk on the floor while it's still wet, or if their paws get wet and they walk on the floor, picking up some of the solution. Or if they lick the floors (my German Shephard has been known to do this after something's dropped). :P

Unfortunately I don't have a source as I was given a magazine article years ago that had this info. in it. So, take it as you will, but I stopped using Swiffer.

Unless Snope's is lying, I'm wrong.

de-clutter feels so good.
QFT.

Sometimes I let my coffee tables clutter up for a few days just so that I can have the satisfaction of cleaning them off.

It's funny because I was a pretty messy teenager, I would clean my room about once a month or so. I would let cans clutter my tables and would have clothes all over my floor. These days I can't stand having just one or two empty cans sitting around and my clothes never stay on the floor. I vacuum once or twice a week because I like to spread out on the floor with a book and prefer soft, clean carpet.

I rarely use anything anymore, but even when i did, i maintained a level of cleanliness. I had a cat for 12 years (he passed away this year) who shed large amounts of white hair, so i was always vacuuming and dusting/swiffering furniture. I always kept a stickly lint-roller around for my clothes (and friends who came over). I bought a Dyson for purely this reason - nothing like it picks up pet hair and other stuff.

We just had a huge house clean yesterday in time for an Open for inspection on our house, and man it feels good. We're flying interstate for a few days and i love coming home to a clean house after traveling :)

our apartment is pretty clean save dishes in the sink. both my husband and i hate doing dishes and they tend to pile up. i dust whenever things look dusty, clean the bathroom about once a week and vacuum about once a week. i am rather terrible about leaving my clothes in piles on the bedroom floor but otherwise we keep stuff uncluttered. i am also terrible when it comes to unpacking my suitcase and it usually lays on the floor until i travel again.

I'm definitely super organized, but I rarely break out the cleaning supplies and clean. I vacuum when I notice the carpet needs it (I do not have any pets). I clean my bathroom when it looks like it needs it. No, I do not let it get disgusting. I am also not one of those people that has nasty ass dirt all through their refrigerator. That is a definite pet peeve. My fridge has to be clean and white in the inside. The food I eat goes in there. I don't want to put it on some old rotting messy shelf. I never let trash or dishes sit either, I can't stand anything that will make the house smell.

Before I went to rehab I didn't care about cleanliness but once I came out anything unorganized or cluttered made me really anxious

Sometimes after I vacuum or mow the lawn I'll just stand there and stare at it since for me it's sooo relaxing to look at something so clean...lol I dk I think rehab brainwashed me

Spotless whenever it can be. I work a stressful job that I have no control over. Cleaning things makes me feel like I have control and instant results.

I clean as i go.. it's become so habitual that it's just second nature. I use to let it build up in the past because gaming often took priority over everything else, but these days i find it really hard to relax around mess, it's like a nagging responsibility that i know i'll have to deal with at some point.

I grew up in a household with a very casual cleanliness. I mean my mom and dad never went nuts over keeping everything in its place and spotless, but things were never actually dirty. I have developed very similar habits, I dont think I'll ever be such a clean person that my house looks sterile. I like a warm inviting living space, no one where I am afraid to leave finger prints.

I will say that I have to have a well orginized kitchen, I hate cooking when my kitchen is dirty. I'll often spend the morning cleaning my kitchen on the weekends, just to dirty it up that night with some grand meal! I hate dishes.

AmorRoark I have a sick husband, 2 teenagers and a 6 year old three dogs and two cats.. I'd have her every day of the week if I could. She does laundry and what not certain days.. dusts certain days and does certain things every visit. I like it clean.

Wow! I never thought my thread would get a good amount of popularity! Glad to see that a good chunk of BL care about their homes and health. We're not the way the public thinks of us, all in a Cheech & Chong style way of living. Love ya Bluelighters!
