Is this the same thing as Papaver Somniferum?

Recently I have decided I'd like to try PPT. However, most online vendors seem to be out of stock atm. The ones who do have pods in stock are quite out of my price range. I did stumble upon one vendor, however, who sells a small quantity at a price I can afford.

HOWEVER, the plant species is listed as Papaver Spp.

And hence the obvious question: Is Papaver Somniferum and Papaver Spp one in the same? Or rather, will this papaver spp be effective in using for ppt?

I promise I have googled this on google and BL and I did find a few conflicting answers on regular google and none on BL. So, someone please let me know. I am not sure what to believe.

Thank you my loves! <3

SSP means species, plural. But that actually means sub-species of somniferum. Basically they are pods from multi-colored poppies most likely. They will get you high, though they are not bred for alkaloid content as some strains are.

Thanks! Someone else said that I needed to find out if they were annuals or perennials, cuz annuals are the ones I wanted but perennials would be OK. I'm interested in this article you were talkin about dirtyjerz.

Yeah there is a crack down taking place. I'd be cautious if there are children in the house. I recently read bout a woman having DCS take her young child away because someone reported her drug (pod use)

dried poppy pods are used in floral arrangements and wreaths and stuff. so look into that kind of stuff.

^That route can be tricky as alot of vendors/shops carrying pods for that use contaminate them with chemicals for preservation or deterrence. They should be fine as long as they are untreated.

oh, good point. I was just saying what I've heard before. yeah, I would ask if they've been treated or anthing if you go that route.

I assumed it was just due to the time of the year that everyone is either out or running low atm. Most of the sites advertise their pods as for ornamental purposes and have at the bottom in red letters that they are not for human consumption. :)

I just did a search for google for "order papaver somniferum" and the, I guess you could call it 4th result down, the one underneath the picture with the very obvious website URL. and it seemed they have everything in stock. they were out of the Tasmanian medium without stem, and they're out of the extra small shirley tasmanian and the ones called "ovalies (hollandaise)". now I don't know much about pods, bu they have plenty of the turkish and regular tasmanian.

so I guess really that site only has the turkish in stock right now. are those not as good as the tasmanian kind?

like what are the things to look for when buying pods? are bigger or smaller pods better? is it wise to get it with the stems as the stems contain thebaine, from what I understand.(what oxycodone is made with). just tell me what things to look for in getting good, strong pods. I'm thinking I might try to do the tea sometime.

*edit*

I take back most of this post, I just checked, and even ones that say they're in stock, when you click to buy them it tells you they don't have that item.

if there is some kind of crackdown going on on these currently then chances are some have been shut down, and the ones that didn't get shut down are gonna lay low for a bit.

Yep, I know what you're talkin about. A lot of websites say they will be restocked soon though, so here's hopin. Anyway, from what I have read, the bigger ones obviously have more. 1 big = 3 smalls. But all the websites vary in the names for the sizes. I have no idea about potency in different kinds. I was just gonna go with whatever I could afford. Maybe someone else can come in here and shed some light. But there is also the PPT forum.

Hey I found the article linked inna post here on BL I'd utse for poppies Arizona and check out what you find. Best of luck! If I find it I'll pst it 4 u

are poppies growing wild in arizona? I recently moved to Tucson and theres plenty of mountains and stuff. does anyone know if they grow wildly around here?

i'd love some for sure real opium!

This is quite true.
My old supplier & I had several conversations about poppies, and he always runs out of things like 2nds and ovalies first. he re-ups in the fall/winter.

I've heard rumblings of there being a crackdown on pods, along with a ban of some sort, but my supplier told me he's not aware of anything like that.

I kinda suspect that the more shady sites put out erroneous info like that, so they can jack up their prices as stock starts to get low. creates a run on the market, yeh know?
