DXM: 230mg
Wellbutrin: 300mg
Seroquel: 25mg-50mg
Kratom: 5 grams

I'm on Wellbutrin sr 150 in the morning and 150 a night.

Ever since I started taking 300 wellbutrin dxm makes me feel like shit now. I feel a really bad inner restlessness and I feel weird anxiety (I think it's because the wellbutrin with the dxm give me to much dopamine and norepinephrine). To counteract this I'm going to try taking 5 grams of kratom and 25-50 mg of Seroquel (start with 1 25mg seroquel and 1 more if necessary.)

First off do you think this will work. I feel like the seroquel will reduce dopamine/norepinephrine stimulant effect of the dxm and Wellbutrin and the Kratom will make me calmer in general. My only fear about the Kratom is somewhere I heard it increases norepinephrine which may do the opposite of what I'm looking for (possibility?).

Finally my greatest fear is this combo will cause a seizure because Wellbutrin and Dxm both lower the seizure threshold (apparently Seroquel and kratom slightly do this also.) What do you think?

i don't think it's a good idea to be combining more drugs to an already unpromising combination of DXM and buproprion.

from medscape's drug interaction checker :

Significant - Monitor Closely

bupropion + dextromethorphan

bupropion will increase the level or effect of dextromethorphan by affecting hepatic enzyme CYP2D6 metabolism.

Significant - Monitor Closely

i would cut the DXM out.

I don't think mixing Kratom and DXM with Wellbutrin is at all a good idea. For one, it just sounds unpleasant. DXM and Wellbutrin both lower the seizure threshold as you seem to know, and it can be a pretty easy line to cross with Wellbutrin, especially if you're combining it with other drugs that can/will lower the threshold. I would personally steer clear of mixing Wellbutrin with DXM and Kratom. I would probably just cut the DXM out.

I would NOT mix. Seizures are no joking matter, and your rolling the dice. You say DXM is already uncomfortable on top of the wellbutrin (dangerous), the total combination would not be fun and quite dangerous.

Ya you're all probably right. Just wondering, what if I took that Kratom out of the equation. I feel like Seroquel could get it done.

dude, it's the action between the DXM and buproprion that is making you feel like shit. i'm assuming you're prescribed the wellbutrin for a purpose and not the DXM. stop taking the DXM or lower the dose significantly.

these are facts from drug interaction checkers, not guessing.

ADJUST DOSE: Coadministration with bupropion may increase the plasma concentrations of drugs that are metabolized by CYP450 2D6 (e.g., selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors; tricyclic antidepressants; some beta blockers, antiarrhythmics, and antipsychotics). The mechanism is decreased clearance due to inhibition of CYP450 2D6 activity by bupropion. Approximately 93% of Caucasians and more than 98% of Asians and individuals of African descent are extensive metabolizers of CYP450 2D6 and may be affected by this interaction. In a study of 15 male volunteers who were extensive metabolizers of CYP450 2D6, pretreatment with bupropion (150 mg twice daily) increased the peak plasma concentration (Cmax), area under the concentration-time curve (AUC) and half-life of desipramine (50 mg single dose) by an average of 2-, 5-, and 2-fold, respectively. The effect was present for at least 7 days after the last dose of bupropion. In one case report, plasma levels of imipramine and its metabolite, desipramine, increased approximately fourfold in a 64-year-old woman following the addition of bupropion 225 mg/day. Plasma levels of desipramine were increased twofold more than the imipramine levels, which is consistent with the fact that desipramine is primarily metabolized by CYP450 2D6 while imipramine is also metabolized by other CYP450 isoenzymes. Similarly, a 62-year-old woman with no history of seizures developed a generalized tonic-clonic seizure in association with toxic trimipramine plasma levels following the addition of bupropion. No further seizures occurred following dosage reductions of both drugs.

MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised if bupropion must be used concomitantly with medications that undergo metabolism by CYP450 2D6, particularly those with a narrow therapeutic range. Concomitant medications should be initiated at the lower end of the dose range. Clinical and laboratory monitoring may be appropriate for some drugs whenever bupropion is added to or withdrawn from therapy.

^this.

Also, there is a huge list of shit you don't want to mix bupropion with. I'd suggest doing a little research, the last thing you want is to find out the hard way about Wellbutrin seizures.

Good choice. I would generally stay away from any sort of combination that involves drugs (in particular OTC or non-recreational ones) in combinations that do not have much experience to base judgment on. Unless you do so willingly to be a guinea pig and find out.

Good choice indeed :)

I think this has been answered so am going to close it - if anyone has any queries, shoot me a pm :)

I've also changed your title to make it easier for others to find in a search, hope that's okay!
