Stimulants Is this a normal reaction to amphetamines [makes me slow down]?

I use adderall recreationally at high doses- usually 90mg XR or 120mg XR. A few months ago I was into that heavily, doing it several times a month. I have cut down those speed binges to one every several months.

Whenever I take it, I get the fast heart rate and sweats and I feel the tingling in my head. When I'm sitting on the computer, I feel like I want to dig deep for useless, but entertaining, information. Sometimes it gives me the energy to walk a few miles with my dog, but I never want to do homework or run around or clean my house, or any of that stuff.

I can just sit in the same spot, for hours, until my joints get stiff, texting and surfing the web until the drug wears off and I can get some sleep after a night or two. I've heard that this is common for ADHD/ADD sufferers?

I'm not diagnosed with ADHD/ADD (the adderall prescription is not mine), and I do not have a hard time focusing in class. However, I am rather chatty and seem to always be tapping my foot or something.

I've also been smoking cigarettes for a few months, and they always drain me of my energy. I've heard tobacco may either relax you or give you a boost because of the stimulant nicotine, but smoking tobacco just makes me want to sit down and not do anything until it wears off. It makes me exhausted..

And when I take get drunk, alcohol, as a depressant, fills me with energy. I can run around for hours and just pace and talk and everything when I'm heavily intoxicated.

Is that normal, and just likely I have some ADD / ADHD brain chemistry? I can't seem to figure it out.. Thanks for any input!

Does that happen when you take such high doses? Or when you're taking lower doses?

I think it may be a sign that you could have ADHD or depleted dopamine receptors. However you're taking such high doses they aren't really going to be effective at treating it. You'll be hyper focused and euphoric, and if you put that energy into your homework I assure you that you'd probably do it very efficiently and quickly - but at that kind of dose it would be all over the place and scrambled.

Yes, fatigue after smoking cigarettes correlates with people that suffer from ADHD as do low doses of stimulants.

I think it's a possibility - but granted your abuse of amphetamines you need to really consider if you could control your urges to dose insanely high and use it as directed, therapeutically. I used to abuse my meds when I first started taking them and it set me back a years worth of treatment. I now take them properly and have had huge therapeutic gain from doing so.

Is depleted dopamine receptors a common side effect from alot of (meth)amphetamine abuse? Just wondering because I sometimes feel euphoric/high/etc and the other times just chillin, when I first started i'd be firing on all cylinders, unable to even think about sleep.

Take lower doses man. 15mg of dex will have me interested and focused on just about anything. I'm sure 75mg+ dex would probably have me tweaking my balls off not being able to concentrate on anything either.

I have ADHD, have an adderall XR prescription, and I <3 speed.

Taking a very low dose of adderall puts me to sleep.
Taking an appropriate dose for functioning (found through experimentation) helps me focus on life and get things done.
If I don't re-dose (for me its half my morning dose 5 hours after) I get spacey and forget what I'm doing.

Smoking too much meth makes me tweak out on the computer for too long.
Smoking an 'appropriate' dose is hard...but when it happens I'm chilled out and productive.

Whether or not you have AD/HD, taking in too high an amount of any stim can give you HYPERfocus - so much you really don't accomplish anything.

If you're worried about your dopamine levels don't abuse amphetamines.

I'm on some dexamp right now which I only take twice a month at most and I feel pretty stimulated, but when I had my script for it (stopped getting it over the summer due to some bullshit) there were a lot of times where I would just get really chilled out and feel very nice and noticeably tired for a few hours. Similar to opiates for me other than the comedown which as you all know is miserable without benzos or opiates to take the edge off.
