Is this a Datura pod?? If so which kind?

Hi folks. I'll do my best to describe what I've found, with some pictures as help.

I went out hunting for datura today on a whimp by a friends mother of where it grows.

After some semi-blind searching, I came across a plant that looked like it possibly was datura. Some things about this plant, The leaves were not elongated like i've seen on Datura Stramonium images (google images). The leaves were the correct texture, colour and general shape though. The stem had no hair either, so I investigated further.

I came across pod seeds, but also unlike google images they did not resemble Datura Stramonium pods which is the common datura found in Australia (I think). They were very small. Each pod contains three seeds. They look like peanuts.

Some pods were bunched together tightly on a stem so I decided to take the whole thing and post it up here. There are little red bits on the tip of each whole pod, as seen in pictures.

I have only taken the photos on my phone, as my USB for my camera is in a locked room. I'll take some later when my room mate gets home if you folks need a closer look.

if you don't want to do that, just DON'T.

we're not going to (even implicitly) encourage you to play with it.
i've done some stupid, risky drugs in my time, but trust me - that shit has NO redeeming qualities.
datura is not cool.
 
I see your intention here, and while I agree with the warning and HR OP seems to have done a little research throwing around names of strains, etc.
All the hate on datura/deliriants really agitates me. Just because you don't value an experience it doesn't mean nobody can.
That being said, these aren't feel good drugs. If you want a feel good drug go smoke some cannabis.
Although, I think you know what will entail with taking a deliriant, and I hope you know what you're doing and don't poison yourself.
Expect to have fucked vision for a period after your trip, irrespective of the extraction method.

Mmmm right. I should've added a disclaimer stating I've known the dangers of datura for years and years and not to waste your time posting something like the above. I was going to do a methanol extraction and dose very very minimally on the scopolamine, but thanks I guess.

As far as the purpose of the identification goes, another great, wholesome forum helped me out. It turns out this was just a premature castor bean. Not datura at all.

From what I have gathered from the psychedelic community over the years, it's best to have a relationship with the plant or the material that will be ingested well before you even think about dosing.

If you really wish to try this deliriant, I suggest growing your own datura stramonium and building up a relationship with the plant over several years. Since you plan on extracting the active, you may also want to try vaporizing small amounts of scopolamine to start with and work your way up to a full blown experience over a period of time.

It can be done, it wont be overly pleasant for 99% of people but, there is something to learn from this experience (as harrowing and horrible as it can be).

I suggest an absolute minimum of finding a plant, removing a sample from it and keeping this with you at all times for a period of some 12 or more months before you jump into using it.

Have you tried any weaker deliriant/psychs such as A. Muscaria? May be well worth some experimentation before you move up to the top rung of the deliriant ladder...

Be as prepared as you can be, I sure as hell wasn't!

It was a great finale indeed. I found it quite coincidentally funny that I happened to pick up a plant containing the deadly (and supposively rare) ricin, the same substance Jesse thought he drugged Brock with.
 
I haven't seen Breaking Bad yet, everyone has been telling me to watch it though.

Personally I think ricin is an untapped market ripe for the taking...

Do it! It's easily one of the best shows on TV, real edge of your seat type drama.
 
I don't see why everyone likes it so much. It's nothing special to me, although I didn't even get to the second season. It's weird to see Bryan Cranston as Walt when I grew up with him being Hal, he does an awesome job acting though.

I've only had one experience with datura and I felt sooooo poisoned, just like with nutmeg. (you remember how you felt like the first time you were really drunkin your life? That'll feel healthy compared to having too much datura) My advice - stay away. It's really quite dangerous.
 
Perhaps if you can't easily identify castor bean seed pods vs datura seed pods then I would suggest not experimenting with this drug, alternativly if you are really determined to try delierients ipratropium bromide may be used as it has anticholinergic properties (I would NOT advise this). Please be careful with any anticholinergic as acute anticholinergic syndrome can occur (get to a hospital ASAP).
 
I had an interesting experience in Peru where those ´devil trumpet´looking plants grow (containing datura). the guide on the inca trail talked about how they have a long traditional use in the continent, and about how they are sometimes combined with ayahuasca or san pedro by some shamans. I cant imagine what a head fuck that would be.

He even suggested to tourists that they could pick some and smoke the flowers (dont know if this is possible) or make a tea out of them. luckily no one was stupid enough to take his advice.

this is one of the substances I would never take. pretty much every trip report I have read on erowid about it is strongly negative. does not sound fun or enlightening in the slightest.

Yeah? I've been there before man... Twin Peaks, Lost, Mad Men, Dexter, X-Files, Deadwood.... once you start you can't stop, especiallem y if you've got the biggest hit of them all... Full series downloaded and boxsets. I have to admit X-Files really tripped me out and I had to take a couple of breaks watching it back to back.

Back on topic: Dextrous if you are serious about picking up random plants for their potential psychoactive value... then you should get some books on identifying these things and get in contact with a horticulturalist or someone who knows what they are doing.
