Hello people's,

A friend of mine would like try poppy tea but has an allergy to phosphates for years he thought he had an allergy to opiates after he got very ill from taking a tylenol 3 which has codeine phosphate. He now knows it was the phosphates that caused the reaction he felt.

I've tried to look about online and haven't really found anything about it which leads me to believe that there aren't any. But I was still wondering if anyone knew for sure?

He will be only trying a very small sip of my tea at first just to be sure. :?

Thank you much.

Well we ended up answering the question, but I'll put it up in case anyone down the line needs the answer.

The answer is no, it does not contain phosphate.

I first had him test a tiny sip, when that produced no reaction, he tried a cup of secondary wash, after waiting an hour and a half he still had no signs of phosphate allergy so he got a proper dose.

Hurray

codeine phosphate is synthesized from codeine freebase, which is found in poppy. i believe all of the alkaloids in papaver are oily freebases, and never salts

edit: just saw your post, glad u found out and your friend is safe
