is there anything you ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW?

they buy electricity in bulk from the company owning the power plants.
very much cheaper than what we pay.

I would assume that they power their own buildings (assuming its in their own section of the grid, for billing purposes and everything) and not send bills to themselves.
I'm sure they'd monitor their consumption though... perfect place for your hydroponics setup though...

I blame my Dad for building me with an inability to just accept things without understanding them. :)

I also blame him for my tendency to horde stuff I don't need just because it could conceivably be useful to someone, somewhere, sometime. 8(
lol Pop, I am in the EXACT same situation.

Nt only do I have to know every intricate detail of why something works (not just how!), I keep loads of stuff I know deep down I will never need, just 'cause it might come in handy some day (actually some of it has turned out to be handy, but I could live much better if I'd just buy stuff if and when I need it, rather than filling my room with THE MOST useless crap ever). Even in online games I keep loads of useless stuff. I throw away nothing. Ever.

i want to know why i have a magazine buying compulsion

i have over 12 issues of esquire, 7 of atomic, 5 Q magazines, a few rolling stones, some GQ and random music mags acting as the carpet in my room

i've really gotta find someone to take them off my hands

at work, i made a huge pile of magazines on my desk and wrote "FREE MAGAZINES" in massive writing. came back 3 days later, all of them were still there

turns out people were reading them, loving them, then putting them back
fuck!

How come when you take multivitamins your pee is fluorescent yellow? And if you were naturally getting enough vitamins from your meals, would your pee be fluoro too?

I think vitamin pills are concentrated and the body can't aborb everything in one cycle, soooo....it's excreted in the urine. You can drink your own piss once (1 cycle) before it starts to get toxic.

Puts new meaning to 'getting pissed'.

It's to do with the Vitamin B in them. Vitamin B turns your pee flourescent - it's just what it does. I can't help with why. Pop?

It's actually Riboflavin, B12 :)

^^ Sux2 speaks the truth (although riboflavin is actually B2). The bright yellow is just excess B2 (or riboflavin) that your body can't absorb.

It's a harmless side effect, and if you are really worried about your urine glowing in the dark (under black light it's actually quite impressive, but a little freaky the first time it happens), you can just increase your fluid intake.

Diuretics (such as alcohol, caffeine, laxatives etc) can increase your body's need for B2. So after a big night out, or too much coffee at work, a multivitamin, or a Berocca (which contains many of your essential vitamins, including 15mg of B2) can help you feel a whole lot better.

Ooops, meant B2 but I guess my fingers pressed 1 + 2 and I didn't notice. :)

Why did they used to pour huge slabs of concrete on graves back in the day?
Was it to stop zombies or something?

it was to stop grave robbers...

people previously used to dig up fresh graves to rob the bodies of any jewelry etc left on the bodies. also human bodies could always be sold off to various places...

the dirt around the graves was generally not touched when digging the grave, so it was a lot harder for them to "slant drill" into the grave..

that, and it was also convenient to use as a picnic table to share birthday / anniversary lunches with the deceased.

why can entire alien armadas withstand all of our weaponry, yet be defeated because of some crazy bitch singing a song?

fucking robotech

I would like to know why we exist

Existing is living in the moment. When we spend our life searching for the answer to existence, we miss the point of existence. I personally think there is no answer. Its all muddled up in the power of relativity and the yin and yang. There really is no greater logic if you think about it.
