is there anything you ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW?

Was is Bakelite that you're thinking of Astro?

Here is some examples from someone who takes his telephone fetish very seriously indeed.
TELEPHONE.jpg

Standard Tele 312 with VIF draw and director dial, they were a big improvement over the 200 with built in bells and very robust.

Ducks unfortunatly can't see that well at night... So they prefer not around places where they can walk off and get lost "i.e Square soccer & rugby fields". This way they know where each other is...

The other theory is that the cleaners don't clean up the footy fields for 2-3 days after a match. So that way the ducks actually stick around to eat the left over chips & meat pies... 2 things that are in the TOP of the duck food chain :D

I reckon it also has something to do with ovals being nice and cool (and often damp, if the watering is done at night) through the dark hours.

Or maybe it's just where the duck elite hang out to be seen by the other high fliers in fowl society. ;)

ah oks...

the leftover food theory doesn't fly i'm afraid though fatz, i'm thinking of our local sports oval, there's no meat pies in the middle of the cricket pitch :p

oh and another one...

you know when you get vision from live sport in america shown here, and sometimes the footage is all dark and kinda fuzzy? is that because they use a different type of taping type thingie than we do, or does it look shit and fuzzy on their tvs too?

americans use a different format (NTSC) which has less lines than the format used in Australia (PAL). They also use a higher frame rate to make up for this, so basically, they're shit, and our format rocks.

On that note, I've never really watched american live sports or whatnot, but is it really that noticeable?
I wouldn't have thought it'd be that obvious...

mostly i notice it on the news, like footage from the nfl or something, i can't think of specific ones atm though.

^ Seems to be something to do with the erosion of rocks and minerals and decayed biological matter, which, when combined with naturally salty rainwater, forms a more salty substance than "fresh" water.

I don't think I explained that very well. :D see here:

What I found interesting is that if you took all the salt from the oceans of the earth and spread it over the land's surface, it would form a layer 500 foot deep (or the height of a 40 storey building) of salt! That's a fuckload of salt!

A rule of thumb. American (well NTSC) TV quality = shite, Aussie (PAL) = good. American (NTSC) gaming = good, PAL (Aussie) = shite. You really notice this on consoles. The slowdown on PAL games is shocking, not to mention letterboxing. This coming from consoles come and gone, not sure of modern stuff. Haven't been into gaming for a few years

In area's where there are problems with fresh water and dam levels (ie: Most of Australia), why aren't there water catchments in the high rainfall area's that store/pump water to the low-level dams?

Or are there, but I'm not aware of them?

you'd rather play ntsc games?
odd fellow.
If the hardware is capable of running 24 frames comfortably at a higher resolution, then give me PAL anyday.
In fact, on that note, I'd much prefer a computer. Nothing quite like 100Hz at outrageous resolutions.

Well it was (and still is) one of the worlds major religons. probably got around the same way christianity did.

what posesses girls to wear thongs or high heels to the big day out of all places?
