In Victoria, the speed limit can't be more than 100km/h in metro (built-up) areas, no matter how good the road is, while in rural areas the speed limit on suitable roads can be up to 110km/h.
This is due to the high concentration of cars in the city which causes a high air pressure and if cars in the city reached 110km/h, you would hearing nothing but a constant popping sounds on the streets.
