Opioids Is there anything I can do?

So, I found out yesterday my pain mgt doctor is discharging me for ONE dirty urine screen (for morphine, from H), I have been a patient of his for over 10 years with no other infractions, so Im surprised they discharged me. They had me on methadone 2-10mg pills 3x a day, when they called, they said they would ween me off it, but very quickly, within 2 weeks...I thought these offices had to give you 30 days worth of meds, but I guess once you break the pain contract, they dont have to do anything.

I know getting into another pain clinic will be impossible, and even if i do, I highly doubt they would give me methadone, A friend told me to try to methadone clinic, but I assume once they see Ive been a patient at a pain mgt office and was prescribed methadone, they probably would not take me, even though I do have a heroin problem as well, I have a feeling they would think Im trying to come there for pain mgt, which i know they will not do.

Other than the methadone clinic, I cant think of any other options, and have kind of accepted that maybe this is the time I get clean off everything, cuz i cannot afford to buy heroin every other day of the month.

That's harsh, just stopping your prescription immediately because of a single urine sample testing positive for opiates. I would definitely try a methadone clinic if I were you, I've been under substance abuse management for over 3 and a half years (in the UK) and it's really helped me get sorted out. I'm down to 45ml daily at the moment and have been stable on this dose for a while. I still use heroin occasionally as I don't feel ready to completely stop just yet, but when I can't afford it or I'm going through a period where I'm trying my best to avoid it, the methadone has been a real life saver. They are pretty lenient too, I've failed lots of urine tests since I first started on methadone but they have never stopped my prescription. They haven't even threatened to stop it either, they've actually been really supportive. If you can get to a methadone clinic, it's definitely worth a try in my opinion. Although I can't say what the service will be like in your area.

Start doing heroin and withdrawal from it for a sub doctor. Tell them you've been abusing your pain mgmt for years? Or do the same at the clinic and tell them you've not been in pain, rather using a shit load of heroin and methadone...

Lying to your doctor isn't cool though, and it sounds like you're fucked so maybe try to find a different way to cope with pain and cold turkey your methadone habit.

Or trade the methadone habit for a 2-3 month heroin habit so the methadone is out and then withdrawal from heroin. It might be easier.

Sounds like opiates are a little more tolerated in the UK! Over here in the US, the past few years the DEA has had a major hard on for pain docs/ narcotic painkillers in general, it used to be fairly easy to get about anything, but now, getting any pain pill is difficult, even vics! but the govt is starting to recognize all they are doing is pushing all the former pill heads to easily accessible heroin.

I have a good friend that has been with the local methadone clinic for many years, he gets take homes regularly, although he did tell me they do random testing, and not urine, but fucking blood tests, and they will drop you for 1 dirty screen...in short, state and fed govt is making it extremely tough to use opiates!

if you go to another doctor for methadone or suboxone you will get help no problem i would imagine. you dont need to any special to get help all u gotta do is say i use drugs and i want off. so just go to another doctor. they might piss tests u to see if you really are on opiates. so either make sure u piss dirty or act surpirsed or admit u havent been off it for 2-3 days and u need help before you go used drugs again. they are there to help you. way different then trying to get prescibed oxy or something. most places will help u if u simple say i need help i dont want to use drugs anymore

I tried this route thru the methadone clinic...I was denied, even though I was dirty with heroin. They told me it was due to me being a pain mgt patient who was receiving methadone and apparently Ive not been legally/ officially discharged, said their hands are tied, everytime I call the pain mgt office though, they dont call me back, the clinic told me I had too wait for the official discharge letter, said it will come certified mail, but could not give me a time frame...This sucks, I dont see how they can withhold methadone just because I was prescribed it at a pain mgt doctor..GOD, I hate the state of KY!!

The meth clinic told me methadone and oxycodone are the 2 drugs the DEA most closely regulates and watches, so I guess this is why I was denied at the clinic too.

I could go to the hospital and tell them I want to stop using, but Ive done this before, this leads to them putting you in the behavioral floor for 3 days and they DO NOT give you much for w/ds, vitamins are about it.
