Pristiq in theory should have the same effects as Effexor & possibly less side effects because it's Effexors active metabolite.
I've heard that Pritiq is stronger though & is more stimulating. Is this true?

Only SNRI ive tried & liked is Tramadol but since there's no way im getting that as an AD I got presribed Prisiq. It made me feel jittery though but Ive heard alot of good things about Effexor.

Is Effexor worth giving a try even though I didnt like Pristiq or do they have the same effect?

I have a friend who says Effexor works really well for him. Ive also read that Effexor is a closely related chemical to Tramadol & shares the same kind of SNRI effect.

I know Tramadol is also an opioid but i took it for a few months for its SNRI effect mainly & it was clear to me I was benefitting from that & not it's weak opiod effect.
100-150mg/day I was perfect. any more & it was to stimulating.

So for anyone who has tried both Effexor & Pristiq is there any difference because in theory Pristiq should feel exactly the same but im not sure what to beleive.

When I first started taking effexor it made me drowsy... now I dont feel a thing. Im skeptiwcal that it does anything for me, im up to 225. Maybe i should act about pristiq.

There is no point in asking or answering such questions people react so differently to different drugs and IME the difference in reaction, especially the unwanted side effects is massive from one person to another.

You just have to work with your doctor to try and find one that works for you, I'm currently on Effexor (venlafaxine) 150mgs a day and seem to be doing OK on it but other ADs have given me real problems when others have found the same ones to be effective.

Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) is, in theory, stronger and has fewer side effects than regular venlafaxine. However it is unclear whether this is a true result or pharma-spin. Pristiq is very closely related to Effexor but it is worth a try I think, if you want to. They are both SNRIs, as is tramadol (amongst other things) but that is where the similarity ends..

This is really something to take up with your doc, so I am going to close this. There are similar threads here if you have a search :)

Closed, pm me with queries.
