I am glad to hear that BL is helpful in your quest to get rid of your poppy tea habit. Everyone here just wants the best for you and wants to see you succeed because many of us have been in your shoes and know how terrible that monkey on your back can be. I wish you luck. I have some advice and I will write out a response soon, but right now I am kinda tired and nauseous due to being pregnant but I definitely want to share with you anything that might help make the road to recovery easier for you.
Just know that we are here for you anytime you need help through support and advice. Remember that any progress is good and don't beat yourself up if things don't go exactly how you want them to. You need to make your taper plan flexible because you just don't know exactly how you will feel and you don't want to make the plan too hard and stringent so that its too hard to go through. So make a plan, but I suggest looking over it every few days and making changes if necessary. Don't try to push yourself too hard because you have a child that needs your attention and as you know w/d isn't exactly productivity friendly. So adjust your taper plan to how you feel and not some date or ideal that you want to reach. As long as you are going down in dose, the better you feel the better the chances of a successful taper.
As for suboxone, I would just tell the doctor what they want to hear. If you want to hear that you have been using for a year I would just tell them that. But that is obviously your call and I wouldn't ever want to push you to do something you are not ok with doing. Suboxone might be helpful during the last days of your taper. Even one or two 8mg pills would suffice. Since with suboxone you know exactly how much you are dosing, it might be easier to taper that last little bit.
One thing I wanted to make sure that you are aware of. What you want is for the pods to be as consistent in alkaloid content as possible from tea to tea. So I dunno if you are doing it already but the best thing to do would be to grind up all your pods and then mix them really well and then dose from that. Don't just take out a pod or two, then make tea cuz that way the consistency might vary and it might throw off your taper. Mixing all the pods ahead of time will allow for much more accurate dosing.
Again good luck. I am glad that you feel much more confident about being able to end this habit. You are not the first person to try and taper, many have been successful before you. I am glad knowing that you are not alone is making you feel confident, as it should. You will definitely be able to do it. It might take a while, but as you said you want to do it slowly so you can be as functional as possible for your child. Take your time, don't push it and eventually you'll get to the end. Once you finish, plan for something special for yourself, treat yourself to something you want cuz you will definitely deserve it. I would definitely put something like that into your taper plan, a special treat once you are in the clear.
