I've never tried synthetic 4-ho-dmt, but I think there's a huge difference between 4-aco-dmt and mushrooms. I wastly prefer the later.
I personally believe that both 4-po-dmt, 4-aco-dmt and 4-ho-dmt each have their own distinct pharmacological action.
it would be insanely cool if there was some way for a kitchen chemist to turn 4-aco-dmt into 4-ho-dmt. I have 2 spare grams of 4-aco-dmt freebase I don`t mind experimenting with it if some one has a serious suggestion a method.
What is TLC? Also, what PH would you aim for? 5?
Mushrooms =/= 4-aco, assuming the enzymatic/acid catalyzed reaction takes place in the stomach before the 4-aco gets into your bloodstream, theres always 4-po/ho nmt in mushrooms (bayeocystin, norbayeocystin) to account for. Perhaps thats why mushrooms are so different than pure psilocin, or psilocybin/acetylpsilocin.
That said, i've noticed differences between 4aco/ho met, and some (assumedly) 4-ho-dmt i have from a recovery lime/dry acetone fasa tek on some brown 4-aco wet goo. Call it subjective, but i can tell the difference in both cases.
Now the real test is to take samples and acid catalyze the cleavage of the acetoxy group, to see if it changes the character of 4-aco-met, and 4-aco-dmt. Also try the lemon tek on mushrooms, and see if that changes the character of the mushroom trip.
If the hydrolysis of either the po or aco doesn't happen fast enough in the stomach before absorption into the bloodstream, then pre-converting any 4-aco tryptamine with hot water and dilute food safe acid might change the experience for the better. Like how it does with mushrooms from all the reports i've read. But for all i know that could be for the 4 substituted nmt's, and pure psilocin/psilocybin are nearly identical due to the the fast dephosphorylation of psilocybin when ingested.
And in any case, yes its easy to make the 4-ho counterpart of 4-aco just like with psilocybin via the lemon tek, theoretically, but you don't want to do it until your about to ingest the psilocin. 4-aco lasts much, much, longer and is far more stable than ho salts of any tryptamine. Just like with 4-po salts (psilocybin), the psilocybin lasts much longer than psilocin when tests were done on mushroom tissue that was dried and stored for a period of time.
