I seen more and more signs for 'pharmacy medication ' such as solpadeine max a few years ago it was like a secret they even existed I think their is an agenda going on here their is also an old codeine containing product brought back into the pharmacy it's got another ingredient that makes you more sedated can't remember the name now
 
I don’t think it has increased really mate, just left in a more open advertising space. This (secret) you talk of was like other things that are kept under the radar but over the counter just like Promethazine, however the info leaflet within and warning without has changed, i.e 3 days use only, Can cause addiction plastered on the box even more directly. It actually has reduced 30mg Co-codamol prescriptions so they push it more.
