Is Skullcap an MAOI/is it safe to use on an SSRI?

No, according to the wikipedia entry on skullcap one of the active ingredients works on benzodiazepine receptors, it doesn't appear to have an MAOI in it. You're probably thinking of passionflower, because passionflower is a weak MAOI. Mixing an MAOI with an SSRI could cause serotonin syndrome. This condition is rare, but can be life threatening. For info on skullcap, read the wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scutellaria_galericulata

^ With skullcap this may be true, since it does appear to be very mild but this isn't the kind of attitude you want to have with all herbal "teas" or drugs in general.
