I got given a strip of Seroquel. I took some meth with a mate a while ago & he said it would be good to help me sleep which it worked well. I took 200mg. I still didint go to sleep but I think it helped with the sketchy feeling which is why i dont like meth.
Anyways I get a bit of insomnia & I took doxylamine for that sometimes or temazepam yet I find the doxylamine stronger for it's purpose.
I was looking at www.askapatiant.com which is an excellent site where ppl rate medications out from 1-5 & give comments & ppl were saying that Seroquel is more sedating in lower doses.
I personally think this is probably BS. but does anyone know if this is true. Why would it be more sedating in lower doses?

Please use the search engine... I have the feeling that you'll be the new Anon54 of BDD, starting 10 threads a day. 8)

yes to some extent
in lower does you will get primarily sedative effects. 25-200mg
higher dosages are used for treating psychiatric conditions like bipolar and schizophrenia

So its not to say that a 600mg dose won't be sedating, especially to someone who is not used to taking it. But to what extent is it more sedating than taking 75mg? i'm not really sure. A lot of it has to do with your experience with the drug. Tolerance grows pretty quickly but doesn't keep going up in the same way it does with other drugs. I was told to increase my dose as needed until I find a dose that seems to work weel for sleep related issues. I currently take between 100-125mg but the first week I took it I went form 25 to 50 to 75 in the span of maybe 4 days until my dosage leveled out around 100mg.

So long story short - if you you are just using seroquel for sleep then any dose between 25-200mg should help you. You can take more than that but it might not make you any more tired.

I would honestly recommend you find a better drug for comedowns. You really don't want to be messing with seroquel if you don't need it. Trust me, I take it daily. the side affects are serious.

Is 3 threads to many?
so it it isnt more sedating in lower doses than but it plateaus at about 300mg is that right?
what kind of side effects?
dont worry I ony have a strip of it anyway. I get benzos usually

An antipsychotic taken after an amphetamine is going to be or seem especially sedating, as it will cease all dopamine activity and essentially kill the high all together. You shouldn't need more than 50mg for comedown/sleep.

I had answered the same exact question the very same day, I was kinda irritated ;)

Yeah, 12.5-50mg is best for sleep, as it doesn't act as an anti-psychotic at that dosage, but rather as a sedating anti-cholinergenic, in which case Doxylamine gives similar anti-cholingergenic effects without the shitstorm of side effects Seroquel will bring you.

I was on Quetiapine (seroquel) for 2 years as part of my maintenance bipolar treatment.
Originally alone, gradually other drugs added.
I hate the stuff, but to answer your question:

I started on 200mg xr once a day - I could not function, all I wanted to do was sleep.
I was upped to 400mg xr once a day after 2 weeks - slightly less sedation, constantly tired and drowsy.
After another 2 weeks I was upped to 600mg xr once a day. Slept longer than pre quetiapine, but could function through the day though constantly felt tired.
After 6 months and a Manic Episode I was upped to 800mg xr once a day - effects pretty much the same as 600mg sedation wise.
After this other drugs were added.

Whether it is more sedating at low doses or my body got somewhat used to the effects I'm not sure.

At the time of commencing Quetiapine I was free of 'recreational' drugs.

i knew a girl on 1200mg and she was zonked out i was on 600mg and was pretty loaded then i switched to 300mg and felt no sedation so i quit and a couple of months later took 300mg and fainted repeatedly for hours
