Cocaine Is septum damage that common?

Hi all, I only started using coke in the lockdown days, and as of this time last year I have a hole about the size of a penny between my nostrils.

Of the few people who I have discussed it with it doesn't seem to be as common as I initially believed, and people are also surprised how fast I did damage.

It’s been six years since lockdown. Lockdown drug use was heavier than normal usage. Likely daily. I’ve had significant nasal shedding from seven g of cocaine in two weeks. I think it’s very very likely and very very possible. Proceed with caution.

Oh 100 percent, it's not an insignificant amount of time, I meant more that I know people who have been sniffing all sorts for probably 20 years yet they've not got any nasal damage at all.

They probably didn’t do as much coke as they talked themselves up doing then huh. It’s a literal hydrochloric acid salt that is as a compound caustic relative to benign compounds and less caustic relative to very caustic compounds. Cocaine is a soft drug. The consequences of its use are soft and build over time. You’ve reached that time frame where the consequences move from soft to hard. You can reduce the harm somewhat by switching Roa’s but given your use history switching to smoking or injecting is likely going to be much more harmful than even this. You could taper down your use by oral use for a bit but you’d likely be unsatisfied. The best approach is really going to be to let the hole in your nose scare the shit out of you and gradually lapse and relapse your way to no longer using cocaine. It sure was fun though wasn’t it? Tell me a story about your best night with cocaine. Or best weekend. Best bender actually!

Best night?

It's got to be attending a rave that I wasn't booked for (I'm an MC) and then getting called on to replace another MC who couldn't make it, I was absolutely Escobar'd but I made it work in front of 800 people.

It took me probably like 10 or 11 ounces of it to notice that it had made the hole, I remember shining a flashlight up there at about 8 or 9 ounces and not seeing it through the other side and then after another couple I saw it shine through. It takes a shit ton, but I'm sure worse batches and binges of not carefully chopping it up and cleaning it really made it worse. Doing that much coke requires trying to push through periods of time where it is doing nothing except wiring you up, it took way longer than I expected.

Early days were really the best. It felt like entering a totally different state of mind and very freeing. Then it became entirely about a specific brand of pleasure only it can bring, and it became more of an obsession than a fascination. Happened very gradually over a long time there was plenty of time to cut my losses but just always ended up craving the adventure and accepting the risks. Really blew past many many warning signs, I think having a rich personal life with lots of friends would have helped out a lot if you are solitary and get hooked on it there is no bottom to the hole you dig for yourself.

Damn! Size of a penny? I consider myself lucky as I used it regularly for a couple years. A few people around me reported damage, but I got lucky I guess.

There were definitely nights I could not do any more through my nose. No matter how hard I tried.

I rarely snorted coke. But I was an opioid junkie for years (about 11 IIRC). Full blown couldn't function without opioids in my system junkie. Everyone around here snorted every kind of opioid pill. Snorting oxycodone/hydrocodone pills that had 350+mg of acetaminophen in them was very common. Everyone did it. We snorted roxicodone, oxymorphone (OG opanda), and many others as well including methadone tablets (burn like hell). But percocets and generic vicodin were by far the most common and people shared them by crushing them up and making lines for everyone in the room. We'd often sit in a room together all day snorting that shit together.

For years I was snorting opioids. I needed at least 40mg to function daily and 80+mg of oxycoconde to get anywhere close to a nice buzz and might a slight nod going. People would crush up pills, make lines and offer them to you. I would have been rude to turn them down. :)

We also did coke from time to time of course. In the end of my junkie days I was snorting a wide variety of substances like 2C-T-7 (burns like hell) and DPT (which made my nose bleed and did horrible damage).

Somehow I do no have hole in my septum. I guess because I took precautions. I was stupid to do it with tap water but we used to run some up our nose after snorting a lot of pill powder to get things unblocked so we could snort some more. I got into the habit of running the tap, putting my finger under it and snorting the little bit of water off my finger.

There were a few times when I used a netipot (again with well and tap water, stupid) and tried to flush out my nose. I saw a rainbow of colors and many of those colors were from pills I'd snorted weeks ago. That stuff was packed tight way back in my nasal cavity and it took weeks-months for it to find its way out.

Fast forward to today. I haven't snorted anything in a very long time. I haven't touched hard opioids in awhile (excluding kratom and sometimes kratom extract). Even after almost 10 years of being away from snorting I still get the urge when I see a straw. It's still very obvious which side of my nose I preferred to snort drugs with. My right nostril is larger than my left nostril. Now granted I broke my nose twice and had it reset and the doctor didn't reset it perfectly. But the damage I caused to my nasal cavity is very obvious to me.

I don't have the hole but I can tell there is a lot more room up there now than there used to be. I'm just thankful my preferred nostril isn't as bad as Charlie Sheen's was in that famous cocaine interview he did. I'm also thankful that I have an excuse for why it is slightly bigger and the left one is slightly smaller than it should be.

I always hated trying to snort stuff up the left nostil. For whatever reason it was harder to get it into the back of my nose even before I broke it the second time. I'd only use it if the right was totally clogged.

I can't believe the culture here was so dumb that people snorted fucking tylenol. But that's just how it was and I am as guilty of it as anyone else. People around here will snort anything. I've met many people over the years that would snort stuff like xanax. Then they'd get offended if you didn't partake and want to put your dose under your tounge. I don't know why but everyone was too dumb to look up basic facts about drugs. They would come to me for advice then ignore it.
