Our brains interpret incoming sensory information rather than simply recording the world like a camera. How much of everyday perception is a useful construction? What does this mean for our confidence in our own interpretations of reality?

I'd love to hear perspectives from neuroscience and philosophy.

prob wrong place to be doing this, as it has nothing to do with psychedelic drugs, so prob get a mod to merge it into philosophy & spirituality?

useful construction? unless you're severely traumatized, or chronically not having enough sleep,
or on LSD, or dreaming,
anything we see is there; interpreted by frame of reference, and our perception..

visible reality as most of us know it is merely a sliver of the full spectrum of reality; so, there is so much more awareness, perception that we can all have.

Neither.

What we see is a hallucination derived from the sensation of light hitting our eyes. Our brain constructs a hyper-real scene based on the relatively sparse information it has to work with and the limited time it has to process and respond. The same is true for sound, our ears, and what we hear. Everything we perceive is a hallucination, one that actually helps us understand the facts of the scene better than we could with the raw/pure sensation alone.

Reality is difficult for humans to understand. There is a whole spiritual world of angels and demons we almost never can't see.

Hallucinations are not reality, they are an merely a mild to extremely strong distortion of reality.

Unless, one has the misfortune of unlocking doors to the spirit world and they can't be easily closed.

Something I find interesting is that humans can only see less than 1% of the light spectrum. And many other species can see more of it than we can. Yet we love to fuck with shit that we don't understand and walk around like our reality is the only one that matters.

Humans are very prideful, we are taught we are the image of god, that we rule over the earth, we are the primary species and other species are created to serve humanity, we murder and we kill upon human whims and desire. Our worldviews teach us out of whole galaxy we are the greatest because our belief system tells us so.

Curiosity is what pushes the world forward but you don't necessarily have to hate religion.

Or it's actually all just history as well.
