Is poppy seed tea poisoning me?

The pods are illegal. I can't afford to go that route. It would be nice though. From what I hear they are next to impossible to grow in Texas.

Most poppy plants are native to Afganistan which is a very hot, dry climate for the most part. I'm not sure but I would imagine that they shouldn't have a problem growing in Texas. Not positive... Just a thought.
