Is my homebake still salvageable???

about a month ago and has been frustrated ever since. attempting to successfully extract morphine from (2) 100mg ms-contins. It went like this:
1.)coatings removed finely crushed.
2.)mixed mineral sprits and toluene at a 80/20 ratio. Mixed it with 50ml of H2O. Put crushed ms-c's in and stirred for about 10min.
3.)Heated solution at 80c for 20-25 min.
4.)Used pipette and removed polar layer..

Here is where the project became a nightmare. Instructions saying at this point to add ammonium hydroxide slowly but instead a small amount of ammonium iron nitrate was added. like .1-.2/gram. once this was realized the switch to ammonium hydroxide was made. so now i got this magical wAter solution mixed with morphine-ammonium nitrate-&ammonium hydroxide. to top things off. i didnt notice and precipitation and i added to much ammonia. So not knowing what to do the solution sat and dried up and it is completely solid now. both containers polar and the non polar have totally evaporated. the polar container w/morphine/ammonium is dried to a hard semi-sticky amber color. while the non-polar container with mineral spirits/toluene has evaporated leaving a crystallized residue on the walls. can this be salvaged all this or is it completely trashed?? fell free to PM or reply as any help would be appreciated.

Please remove the whole "my cat" part. We all know you're talking about you and not your cat. Using things like "my cat" (and yes, the part about your cat having a dream needs to be removed too) just makes your post hard to read and is against the terms of use of this site.
 
We don't allow cats posting here. They lack opposable thumbs and the necessary frontal lobe for doing bench chemistry effectively.

If you added ammonium nitrate/iron to your morphine, chances are good that it's gonna be a fucked up mess. In addition, evaporating it all down is also a no-no, as morphine likes to oxidise in open air, esp. if there is metal catalyst (and oxidising agents!). Some or all of it is likely fucked now. You'll have to adjust the pH on the polar residue you have (make freebase morphine precipitate) and probably re-extract it into nonpolar solvent.

The nonpolar layer you can just throw away. Morphine sulphate from MS Contins should go into the water, the toluene is just garbage.

what should the ph be to precipitate the polar side once i try again. ive read to make it neutral. other sources say 9.1. and last but not least. do i need to add NaOH or sodium carbonate to make the precipitation occur? it seems like adding ammonia to morphine/water wont make the solid morphine base im looking for "drop out". im trying to learn. yes im a rookie but everyone starts somewhere. ive done many many searches and information varies from source to source. if anyone has any personal experience on extracting morphine from MS-Contins please PM me or give me sum advice(nothing rude please) the only info i could find was A/B extracts from pods or prepping MS-C's for IV.
