Is my drug use causing weight loss?

(It is not my aim to lose any weight) But people are commenting that I look thinner since I've been using recreationally.
So it's been 7 months. Every month I use MDMA once (150mg plus top up) and cocaine once or twice approx. (1 gram), smoke weed most days and drink (spirits) about 4-6 times.
Does this warrant any weight loss?
It could be my already low appetite though. Any ideas?

Um...do fewer drugs and eat more food?

The algorithm for weight loss is pretty simple... If a is the number of calories you take in and b is the number you burn, if a<b, then c(your weight) drops

Pretty self explanatory

Stimulant drugs like MDMA and cocaine raise your metabolism and I assume you're probably going out and dancing and getting all dehydrated too. I used to lose 7-10 pounds during a good rave.

Smoke more weed and eat more food and do fewer stims
Kinda rocket sciency but I think you can probably manage. Good luck

Don't forget Dr nick's window to weight gain

I don't gain weight easily so this is pretty patronizing to someone like me.

Yes it's conceivable that drug use is causing weight loss. Both fatty/sugary/salty foods and addictive drugs work in some of the same pathways of the brain. I would suggest cutting out the drugs...easy fix?

It's not that easy for me to quit. I should think about it tho. I thought my usage was moderate.

I wouldn't call it "moderate" if it's interfering with your health.

That's the problem with using drugs, one of them..

Not really.

It's really not that simple. There are drugs that interferes with your metabolism and then your theory means nothing.

There are lots of people with hormones issues who can starve and normally eat very little yet they gain weight due to their slower metabolism.

Same happens withs anti depressant. It will make you gain weight when amphetamines do the contrary regardless of your eating habits.

I've lost 20 pounds when I quitted methadone. This in a period of 2 months, when I actually started to eat more.

Ask any doctor or to those who takes medication that affects their metabolism.

I know, that happens with most of us who use drugs. It's not easy, on the contrary addiction is a challenge and you really need to want to quit.

I don't want to quit. I just wonder if my drug use alone is contributing. Or if it's not enough to cause weight loss and quitting wouldn't make a difference.

God, I wish I had your problem. Lol sorry, I have no useful tips as it's hard for me to lose weight even though I take multiple stims a day. :/ blah the ensure nutritional drink idea is good actually. I'd suggest that ontop of whatever you eat. Or come live here. Garantee youll gain 30 lbs in like a year. Lol

I feel for you, I've been 125 lb since high school. I never have an appetite but even when I eat a lot in one week I don't gain anything. Any stimulants I use intensify my problems with appetite and will cause me to drop even more weight. Besides the obvious negative effects of cocaine you should slow down on that, at least until you bulk up back to normal. MDMA probably won't effect your weight with how little you use it, which is a great thing if used every few months.

Drug use in my experience usually correlates with either weight loss or weight gain and usually never a fixed weight. This is usually also dependent on the drug being (ab)used.

As said, make sure you compensate your high calorie loss on stimulants with proper nutrition and you'll be fine. Otherwise it's more than common to look like you're malnourished.
