Right so two bad things have happened. Thank god it's only half a gram:
I left some coke in a "snuff bullet" for a few weeks in a cool dry place, during which time it has turned pink. The bottom of the bullet is made of brown glass, and the coke that leaked out of the bullet into the protective baggie I put around it hasn't turned pink, so I'm guessing that some sort of dye leached out of the glass (only plausible explanation I can think of, although I've never heard of dye leaching out of glass before). Do you think this could make the coke unsafe to consume?
Next, given the coke was rather moist, I decided to try drying it in the oven. I turned the knob to about 60c, and came back after about 10 mins to find a blackened mess. It looks kind of like sugar that has overcaremalised, but when you scrape away the top layer of blackness there is still some relatively undamaged coke underneath. Is this black stuff toxic, and would it be unwise to try to salvage the unburnt coke by, say, dissolving it in water?
I know you're probably thinking it's not worth going to all this effort for half a gram but partly I'm just curious about the chemistry of what has happened, so I'd be very grateful it anyone more knowledgeable than me could explain what has happened here.
