Is Mirtazapine dangerous during Benzo withdrawal?

I'm currently going through Benzo withdrawal yet again! I stopped cold turkey 10 Days ago, my GP nor my local drug treatment centre would prescribe me any. I have been at 30mg Diazepam per Day for most of this past Year, self prescribed. The local drug treatment centre said if I needed it I would have to acquire it illicitly.

I can't sleep yet I have Mirtazapine & Amitriptyline & also Quetiapine as emergency sleep aids. The Quetiapine does not seem to do the job even though I've only taken it a handful of times, at various doses, like 50mg, 100mg, 150mg, 200mg. I'm very suprised as almost everybody says Quetiapine will knock you out. Anyway I feel as if Mirtazapine is the most useful out of the 3, even if it feels like it doesn't work some nights, I haven't taken any in 4 nights so I was thinking maybe tonight I'll try again, yet I'm concerned about lowering my seizure threshold.

I've never had a seizure but as I say, I'm in sever withdrawal and feel on the brink, apart from the complete Insomnia I'm also very twitchy.

What I've read so far is inconclusive, so any advice would be most welcome. Thanks ;)

Btw I should hopefully be getting hold of some Diazepam tomorrow so I can begin a taper.

Do not take amitriptyline or Quetiapine during benzo wd's! They both lower the seizure threshold which is the last thing you need during benzo wd. As for Mirtazapine it is a serotonin and norepinephrine enhancer so it could possibly lower the seizure threshold somewhat. Though in low doses as in 15mg's or under it mostly acts as a anti-histamine. It would be the safer of the 3 but i wouldn't call it safe really.

Thanks for the reply. ;) I sort of thought as much tbh.

I didn't take any of them last night, and now I have 150 x 10 mg Diazepam to taper with, although they are the Bensedine brand made by Galenika which don't have a score line, so there difficult to break accurately. :|

I was prescribed Clonazepam as an alternative to Xanax XR for Panic and anxiety. I went from 2 mg Xanax XR (2x daily) to 2 mg Klonopin -.5 mg (4x daily). I then went to 1.5 mg Klonopin- .5 mg (3x) In an attempt to keep from developing a signifigant sustained
benzodiazepene dependence. Situations arose for me to abruptly stop all scripts.

Clonazepam 1.5-2 mg daily - 7 years

Adderall 20mg (2x daily) - 2 years 6 months to 30 mgs (2x daily) for 1 yr. 4 months

The resulting "cold turkey" from all of this was living hell. People say that all the time but you can imagine it is ecspecially true for me.

Benzo's would of helped the no sleep for 3-4 weeks time I imagine.

I do know one thing Remeron and Trazadone don't help at all..make things worse.
