Is it true i can die if i gon on methadone and still take my benzos???

okay ill just say sitting up rite now feels terrible,im so sick uggggggg!
Anyway i was reading stuff and came across sumthing interessting to me cause i wanted to try and get off opiates...
So now i find that i cannot find suboxone in brandon K?

No biggy i was told to go on methadone years ago to try and stop...
NOW i read that methadone mixed with my other benzos could kill me???????
Is this rite????
I wasnt planning on stopping the benzos cause they have saved my life and continue to do so.....
SOoo does that meen i cant go on methadone to quite opiates??????????

Well, yes and no. Afaik, the interaction between methadone and benzos is really no different than other opioids. You have to worry about increased respiratory depression causing an overdose. There are many people on methadone clinics who are prescribed both benzos and methadone legally and it is a simple matter of adjusting the dosage to account for the increased respiratory depression. If you are prescribed benzos, the methadone clinic doctor will more than likely require you to either get a release form from the doctor prescribing the benzos to make sure he knows you are on methadone, or the clinic doctor will take over the benzo prescription on his own prescription pad. Just be honest with both doctors and you'll be fine. If you are going for suboxone, you should do the same. Of course, not all doctors and psychiatrists are understanding of someone getting on methadone, but many are and you really don't have any options in this regard.

If you are not prescribed the benzos legally, then tell the clinic doctor that you have an illicit benzo addiction. All methadone clinics test for benzos and if you continue to test positive without a prescription or without making the the prescribing physician aware that you are on methadone, they will more than likely kick you off after some time.
 
If you are stupid about the methadone and benzos then yes you can die. I have overdosed twice from the two and my heart stopped twice before I got to the hospital the second time. Be safe.

Although that is true, it gives the wrong impression. There's countless people who are safely prescribed benzos with opioids. As long as you take the two as prescribed and you are up front with your doctor you will be fine. If you have a legitimate medical or psychiatric need to take the benzos, and all prescribing physicians know what drugs you are being prescribed it is not extremely dangerous. Now, taking recreational dosages of both benzos and opioids, or taking them other than as prescribed can be extremely dangerous.

The original poster is obviously mixing opioids and benzos in a dangerous manner already. If he gets on methadone he will at least be taking the two substances under the care of a physician which should be much safer than his current situation.
 
^^^^^^^^^^^^ yes im on benzos for many reasons ,all persribed by my shrink,i just never herd that you could die taking methadone while taking benzos to .
I need to stop the pills etc opiods i do not need to stop my benzos as they controll so much in my life to keep me normal....
I dont want to abuse the methadone at all ,i dont even want to go on it ,its just theres no bupe doctor here,i found this out later on after resurchin and thought there was a sub doc but no go.
So now my only option is methadone...
 
I've consumed today my daily dose of methadone that keeps me alright, I've also taken my normal dose of clonazepam and I've added estazolam. I'm fine, I'm not really high, I'm just relaxed. Anyway, I don't feel like I was dying.

But I second everything written before. Both methadone and benzodiazepines derivatives/analogs are depressants and they go into synergy when taken together. Methadone's effects are often boosted with strong acting benzodiazepines to bring on some euphoria. Anyway, I described my case just to show that tolerance is a great factor here.

Like you couldn't overdose buprenorphine...
 
I have a very high tollerance to both my benzos.
4 2mg clonazepams a day and 2 30mg temazepams and 6 5mg nozins.
Along with 400 mg seroquel and antidpressants...
and very high tollerance to the opiods which led to bad abuse....
 
If by "nozines" you mean levomepromazine, I see no connection. Also, what is this quack that prescribes you all these meds (I thought that the era of prescribing multiple benzodiazepines is over...)? Although 30mg of levomepromazine isn't a high dose, this is going to contribute to respiratory depression even more.

Do what you want but you should quit temazepam (it's weak anyway) and stick to clonazepam (you know, I've gotten estazolam a few days ago and combining it with methadone and clonazepam I have to take is just regular abuse). I guess that temazepam is a sleep aid, get something not addicting (neuroleptics should do this job). Notwithstanding beware that phenothiazines are nasty drugs and they don't combine well with opioids.
 
i ment methotrimeprazine nozinans not strong.
the temazepams are for sleep along with the seroquels and if i dont have an anxiety attck that day i take the clones with everything else to sleep even finding i dont even sleep half the time which also leeds to taking multipuls....
 
I'd make sure that the clinic knows about all the things you're on. Given that you're on multiple benzos, plus antidepressants, plus an antipsychotic, there's a lot of potential for serious interaction there.

I thought i was ready but now im paranoid about the whole thing after reading about people dieing while on methadone and benzos

If you can see a good doctor, they could help you out with this, collaborating with your local done clinic. I know several folks on multiple medications that had their doctor and clinic doctor work together to find a safe and effective dose...

Its too bad there are no bupe doctors. Its a shame to hear that you have to go onto Methadone. Real shame...

As for your question. Talk to the doctor at the clinic and make sure that you tell him everything that you are on. Hopefully he will decrease some of those doses. Your on a lot of depressants. Abusing your doses for recreational purposes could easily lead to respiratory depression.
 
I think you guys are understating the risk. It isn't just any opiate/oid we are talking about... Methadone has a much higher risk of a lethal combination than others.

You can be on both, but be sure to talk to your doctor so that they lower the dose of both considerably.

Isn't it exactly that risk - and therefore the increased exposure to medmal liability - which leads to some clinics having a no benzos rule?
