I tested my Marquis with sugar and aspirin, the pic is below.
I've had it for about a year, and I think the dark brown beer colour is a bad thing.
Is it time for a new kit?

Yea it looks like your kit has gone bad. The reagent is really dark colored. phase_dancer said color of the solution is the best indicator, and I take his word on it. His exact words are "if it's dark or beer-colored", it's almost no good.
