Is it safe to take 2.5mg of xanax an hour before a blood test?

I have to get a blood test tomorrow. I am prescribed xanax because I sometimes have high anxiety attacks. My worry isn't the xanax showing up in the blood test. Also, Im not supposed to eat anything until the blood test which is at 11:30 a.m. I am severely afraid of needles and blood work and have had allot of anxiety that has been building up towards this blood test. To relax I was thinking of taking 2mg to 2.5mg of xanax an hour before the blood test. I have also taken 60mg adderral today and 20mg vicoden and have had like 2 moderate meals all day. it is 12pm now so I have about 12 hours until the test. I just want to know if it is safe to do? I am already really afraid of passing out, even if I don't take the xanax. Considering the adderral and the vicoden I took today and only eating 2 small meals, I am concerned about putting xanax in my system on an empty stomach then getting blood work done. With all that said, will the adderall and vicoden I took today combined with 2mg to 2.5mg xanax In 11 hours from now before the blood test increase my chances of passing out, or will it help sooth and relax me? The blood test is in a little less than 12 hours from now so I would appreciate any feedback. And please don't respond, "ask your doctor". Thanks again !

Adderall causes anxiety. Some might say it doesn't for them, but it is always more anxiogenic than no adderall at all. The same can be said about Vicodin to a small degree. Opiates can make you nauseous on a full stomach, but even more so on an empty one.

Xanax is best on an empty stomach. Please, just take the Xanax, if anything, before the blood test. it isn't like an MRI or CT Scan where you have to remain still and can't leave for a while, so there is no real urgency for sedatives.

The prick you're going to feel isn't worth a pain killer, just a dinosaur band aid (which you don't even really need).

Some people say blood tests are like bee stings... I call bs. Bee stings are unexpected, they aren't a helpful medical procedure, and they hurt for a while. I think the prick of bee stings even hurts more.

You'll be fine. Having a catheter when you are awake is something to worry about, even pumped with fentanyl or w.e the hospital gives you.

If only I could still be afraid of needles...the good old days. Honestly taking Vicodin, Adderall, and Xanax sounds like serious overkill. Take a little Xanax and just close your eyes. I get it though, needles scared the shit out of till I was 12. Personally I like to watch the needle now, mainly to make sure that the Nurse can actually hit my veins (no small feat), but if I were you, just close those eyes and turn away, it is done in like two seconds if even. Plus you could always get a hot nurse or something, that always helped me out for damn sure.
