Is it safe for someone to take coke and alcohol on buprenorphine?

Hi everyone, long time reader/lurker but never registered until now!

SWIM had a codeine habit for a few months and finally got off it and on to bupe, he takes 16mg daily. He can't decide whether not to bother with New Year's Eve or whether he should go out and drink and take up to 2gs of coke (until 7AM) which he was quite used to before the opiate addiction - in fact he'd often take a few 30mg pure codeine pills when he was drinking and taking coke so he's used to opiates being mixed in. He would also save back on the bupe taking 12mg on a couple of days up until then - say like, tomorrow and then maybe on the 27th or 28th again so that he had enough for a slightly higher dose on New Year's day to cope with comedown (as he used to do with codeine).

What does everyone think, as long as he doesn't get completely fucked?
 
The problem would come from mixing booze and an opiate, but should be ok so long as you know and can stay within your tolerance.

Coke shouldn't be a problem.
 
cocaine + alcohol = cocaethylene which is more cardiotoxic than cocaine.

cocaine + bupe = a type of speedball. not good on the body, but if not overdoing the cocaine, should be fine.

bupe + alcohol = increase the effects of eachother so watch for respiratory depression, but they shouldn't be a problem together

dosing is key in this one. just don't overdue it, and u shuld live on to see the next year. enjoy.

Right, OK - thanks. I was thinking that taking less bupe on New Year's Eve so as to avoid a bad alcohol related experience plus there'll be more for the next day for the comedown.

It's OK to use a 'I' and 'me' then, not a hypothetical someone else, unlike other forums?

ha, i was thinking the same thing. The only people i know on that dose are for long term junkies who used stronger opiates like heroin, oxy, etc. as their drug of choice.. but for codeine? you must have had quite the tolerance, ha.
 
Ha, I was on 300mg a dose - 10 pills of 30mg codeine phosphate. Sometimes 5x a day.
 
thats intense as fuck. its going to be alot harder to come off of bupe than codeine. your dr is a fool!
 
300mg is kind of a low dose to decide to turn to buprenorphine. Not to belittle your addiction. I just see it as something you could taper of slowly to avoid withdrawals which wouldn't be all to hard. 16mg of Buprenorphine is a high dose, the equivalence to codeine is "much" higher. But I guess some people have a harder time getting off opiates but remember now you have to deal with buprenorphine withdrawals eventually which will be worse than coming off 300mg Codeine.

Mixing cocaine is fine, neither will interact much, there won't be any sort of speedball effect. Why are you taking Codeine? The only effects you get from combining the two is called placebo. Buprenorphine blocks all opiates, even strong ass ones like Oxymorphone and Fentanyl. Buprenorphine doesn't cause much respiratory depression so mixing alcohol is not really dangerous, just be careful not to drink too much. You should know your own tolerance.
 
Thanks for the replies. I've been prescribed codeine for years due to colitis.

After a suicide attempt in hospital and coming out, having failed uni, no job prospects, breaking up with the woman I've never loved anyone as much as - I was miserable as fuck so I'd pop a couple to cheer me up. 2 became 3, 3 became 4, etc...

I asked the doc to put me on bupe as it's much longer lasting and it had got to the point that I was on OTC stuff, 26 Nurofen Plus (12.8mg codeine per pill) in a glass and doing CWE. I can't see the doc giving me enough codeine to taper down from.
 
Sorry, another question. I frequently used to take codeine with the coke to make me feel more relaxed. Due to bupe, codeine will have no effect but will the bupe - which doesn't get me high anymoire - still prevent the jitteryness that can happen from coke? I'm hoping it's not going to be an issue though as the guy I'm collecting from usually has bettert quality than anyone else, from my experience although his last batch was shit. I haven't done it for 3-4 months, I'm quite excited!

I'm probably not going to go out to a big rave now as the pharmacy is open next day (New Year's Day believe it or not!) from 10-2 and I'll have to attend, and I'd be in a different city and a complete comedown state. So I'll collect the stuff from that city then return to where I'm staying and probably go out for a few beers (and lines) and be OK to go to pharmacy next day - although having it after so many months will be reward enough for a new year! I'll just have to watch my intake as tolerance has decreased

Well, everything went better than expected - no comedown from an 1/8th after all. These subutex pills are a fucking godsend!
