I always hear that it is really dangerous to smoke cigarettes while on the nicotine patch.

I guess bc they are both stimulants?

I've done this quite a few times and felt fine. But then again, I'm not the best judge for health questions.

I just don't understand why it is so "dangerous." Can someone enlighten me?

That's it? How many cigarettes would that take, roughly? I know specifics are probably needed, but wouldn't take alot of cigarettes? And wouldn't one notice?

Does it matter if the patch is somewhat old- like past 12 hours or approaching hour 24?

I've smoked a few while on the highest mg patch (24 is it? with no ill effects. I ended up just taking it off before a shower and never putting it back on though.

What kind of patch is it? Strength? Are you cutting them up? I'm not an expert on the subject but the amount released probably has something to do with it.

I think your tolerance will play a major factor in what happens. I really dont think you will die or anything I doubt your the firt person to do this.

actually in treatment they made a really big deal about it, and of course we all did it anyway. I will say i did notice my heart working extra hard while smoking/patching. I wouldn't recommend it just based on what i felt and the treatment centers' strong stance against it. Just my 2 cents.

I think it is fine too. I feel like i would feel the effects if something bad were going to happen unless I were chain smoking like crazy.

I feel better. People have been giving me shit about how dangerous it is. I get it, it is, but if I go kind of overboard. The patch works for me generally, but sometimes I think i am addicted to the other shit inside the cigarette--- how awful.

It's probably fine unless you have some preexisting cardiovascular condition. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but most smokeless tobacco products would deliver higher amounts of nicotine at once than smoking while using a Nicotine replacement product. I never felt too strong of a nicotine buzz while having a cig on the patch, but throwin a dip would give me a nice buzz.

I tried quitting smoking several times with the patch. Always smoked on em tho.. obviously quitting never worked for me, but i never got sick or anything. I heard their changing it so you smoke on the first week of the patch, but thats just a rumor among my town. Ive never had bad effects tho

Not even that.

The only danger is oral nicotine and the patch.
That is the only real chance of overdosing.

Some idiots out there who have died, used all three, that probably where this came from.

It's very hard to OD on nicotine, do to it's very short duration.
And smoking itself contributes very minute nicotine levels compared to every other form of it.
