is it possible to recreationlly use codeine and other similar opiates recreationlly?

so what i mean is can i use weak opiates recreationally without addiction or it leading on to other harder opiates like heroin is it possible? has anyone elsedone this?

I occaisonally use codeine like once every 3-8 weeks usually i use them for a mephedrone comedown or just as a treat if i have some :D

In the short term, or if your supply is easily restricted, yes.

Given a sufficiently long period of time, the recreational potential will diminish.

Hell, I was 15 when I started using opiates. Eventually I went to percocets at 16, to oxycontin/roxicodones at 21, to snorting h to IVing H and then I was only doing it so that I can function during my shift. If you let it, the seed can grow slowly over time into something unmanageable if you're not careful. As sekio stated, if your source is restricted or if it's just temporary, it'll be fine as long as you don't have an addictive and destructive personality, because to be quite frank. Tolerance is a bitch and stays with you for a long time. At least for me.

I'd say that even if you are careful, you're playing with fire.

Because let's face it, if you enjoy doing something, when is it a good time to say "Well, that's it. I'm never going to have that enjoyable experience again in my life. I'm done now."

That's why I think there's no answer to these kinds of questions that the OP asked.

Ask yourself this: "When is it a good time to deprive myself of something I enjoy doing?"

There are only bad times, and worse times to stop doing something you enjoy.

In my honest opinion, it's best to deprive myself when it starts to become something that I need to maintain my everyday composure. I'm simply just warning him to be careful for those signs. I've had a lot of friends go because they weren't aware of it's potential danger or were careless. You deprive yourself when enjoyment become life management or hell, when it gets close to it. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding you. It's good to have sweets every now and then, but to indulge in sweet everyday, eventually becomes a poor lifestyle with risks of diabetes. That's why I recommend hedge clippers to prevent the seed from growing too big, at least it will retain it's aesthetic nature and one could still enjoy viewing without the risk of the seed consuming their whole house.

You're definitely playing with fire..

I had my own codeine problem. It doesnt help that I can get T1s over the counter for dirt cheap and get relatively high as fuck for an evening for around 5$ and its always around and available.. little CWE and I was on my way... the amount of caffeine totally fucks with the codeine vibe, but I grew to love the feeling of both together, even when it made me sick..

In a way Im glad I had access to T1s OTC otherwise I may have moved onto much harder shit and been even more fucked.

Shit creeps up on you and you dont even realize it. Opiates are the devil.

Yes codeine is "weak" but you can still get damn addicted, and the withdrawals were bad enough for me to keep my addiction going.

You already made a thread that was basically the same as this one, except it was asking if one could use heroin and not get addicted.

While the hypothetical in this situation is a little bit more likely, it's still not very common.

I couldn't....but its odd my 2 favorite drugs weed and opiates hardly give me recreational effects anymore unless I splurge on my doses.

Great pain relief however, nice calm buzz with a subtle undertone of euphoria, but no real high like I used to get.

I function extremely well on this combo which is kind of scary...

IMO,IME if you already really like codeine or other opiates you will not be able to keep it recreational. Yes they are fun, they make you feel really good....but it will turn into a habit that will become incredibly hard to put down.

Once every 3-8 weeks sounds fantastic, but I can promise you the odds of it staying that infrequent is one in a million. I started with infrequent codeine use, life went tits up and opiated beauty was a daily thing. If you follow my path in a few years time you'll be soaking fucking plant seeds in water and lemon juice to stop yourself projectile vomitting and feeling like some invisible force is dripping frozen acid into your bloodstream.

Stay away.
