Opioids Is it possible to become IMMUNE to opiates?

I must be a freak, or else a high tolerance just does weird shit - I did an experiment and literally the (minor) high I get is no different whether I shoot 4mg or 16mg. Just a mild rush.

However, if I'm withdrawing the "transformation" feeling will still knock me on my ass, even with a minimal (4mg) dose. At this point that's the best feeling the dillies give me, which is really a catch 22 since the feeling of being in WD sucks, but the worse my wd, the better the rush when I inject that first shot!

Its probably a discussion for another thread, but for the life of me I can't figure out why I still bother to shoot up, and even still look forward to it! I mean if at random intervals the dilaudid still occasionally got me high even that would make it worthwhile, but it doesn't work on me anymore - so why do i still bother?

The thought of my doc taking me off meds scares me, and I don't want to taper down and quit... But why? It's like being afraid of my mom taking away my spinach when I hate spinach!

This is just my opinion/experience, but, I noticed that with oxycodone (I know this is not the drug you are doing) once my habit got above 300mg a day, I felt like it was impossible to get high. I wouldn't call it immune, because I could keep off sick, and stay happy as long as I was doing oxy.

A "high" or nod became unattainable. No matter how much oxy I did it was no use.

I switched to white powdered heroin, and IV'ing, and well, I get high now. Why did the heroin not work for you?? The dose was too small. Your tolerance to opiates is high, the tar you got was probably weak, even if it wasn't, you will need a hefty dose.

It is no mystery though..shit happens with any drug. Tolerance increases to the point of no return..impossibe to get "high" like you used to.

The only solution is time, a break. There is no secret, mystery, magic drug you can take. Time off of opiates is the only cure.

Thanks for the reply, Mr Loop. At least it's reassuring to know my situation isn't unique. I really expected the heroin to work on me, I think that was the biggest surprise. I know the batch was good since it was from the same batch a friend of mine (a fellow blue lighter and experienced H user) was scoring and he said it was good.

I tried several times, finally doing a shot that was triple the strength my friend said would knock him on his ass. For a half hour a felt a little sedated, but that's all it amounted to.

I guess I'm lucky it didn't work, because if it did that would have been one expensive habit - it would have meant I needed a $x shot every time I felt like digging in.

Plus tar is really nasty stuff, terrible for your vein, so it was a mixed blessing.

Still, it sucks to have learned that opiates at any strength just won't get me off anymore. Actually wait, I lie - the one time I got my hands on a fent patch I liquified it and plugged it and had a very, very nice time. But i can't seem to get any more. Funny, I gave tons of dilaudid, most peoples holy Grail, and I can score heroin, but stupid fent patches are out of reach!?

Oh well, its nice to have goals in life.

In the meantime, once a week I load up on dxm, dilaudid and amitriptalyne and have a grand ole time.

I don't think you can ever become immune to an opiate. The only thing I can think of is that you are only doing enough to stay well and not enough to get high. Try upping the dose dramatically and that should help. If not try a stronger version of opiate and see what happens.

Hi Slaves... I have tried a single dose of significantly more dilaudid than usual and still no go. I've just hit an opiate wall and that's it. Several other people have relayed similar experiences so I just have to accept it. Besides, if this is natures way of keeping me just to the right of being a total burn out, I'll take it!

More later, when my batteries recharge :-)

I talked to an older gentelman that shot dope for over 30 years, hes 62 now & I asked him if he still got high after all those years. He said the high isnt like it was back in the day when his body & mind werent use to it. He said he can still get high, but its not like it use to be.

You said you cant even get high on 32mg of dilly & then again, not everyones mind & body work the same.

(There are people who are naturally "opioid resistant" and have enormous tolerances without ever using, but that's not your situation.)

This is either a blessing in disguise or terrible luck. If you have serious body pain & cant get the relief you want from pain meds, that is terrible luck.

Thanks for the insightful replies, everyone.

I think I might be in the category of people who have some natural tolerance to opiates, since the whole reason I'm on dilaudid in the first place is because it took 3 or 4 vikes/percs to have ANY effect on me, and that was my first time using opiates. So, right from the start, it took double the normal adult dose to have an effect on me (and no, I'm not double the size of a normal adult :-)

As far as trying heroin goes: I did. A few months back I decided to "step up" and give it a try, since mass quantities of dilaudid had no effect on me.

It didn't work.

On the west coast we only get black tar, and I got a bunch through a trusted friend. I started small and worked my way up to 3X the dose that had my friend flying high (from the same batch) and it essentially had no effect on me. For a half hour or so i felt a very mild buzz, but that was it.

So even a large amount of heroin couldn't get me higher than sea level.

On the other hand, I got my hands on a fentanyl patch and plugged it (this was about 5 months ago) and THAT did the trick. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a regular supply of fent to continue the experiment and collect more data.

Why would fent get me going but not a huge shot of H or D? Does that point to anything?

For the long term, what does someome whose opiates stopped working do if he wants to go on a little trip?

Wow, everyones mind & body definitely works different. I got nauseated & high from a half of a 5/500 Vicodin my first time. Of course its not like that anymore but 1 Vicodin will still take away pain but wont get me high like before.

I've never tried suboxone... I guess I'll look it up and see if it's right for me. Naturally if I could lower my opiate consumption I might be able to lessen my tolerance.. But since I am so hyper tolerant anyway, I'd probably have to just quit for a few weeks at least, and then it would be just to hopefully get a good buzz once or twice; seems like desperate measures and a lot of work to just go against the grain.

I think I'm better off finding something else that makes me "happy," or a good potentiator. My pain doc perscribed amitriptyline to potentiate, but it seems almost random as to when it works. Recently I gave dxm another whirl, it had been a while since I tried it. I have to admit, it gave me good results, but long term dxm just doesn't work. At least for me, once or twice a week is probably enough of that stuff.

Of course, if all of us were happy just catching a buzz once or twice a week, all of this would probably be a lot easier... And safer!

Since I'm on vacation until the end of the month I'm looking to "live fast" every night until it's time to go back to work, but it's easier said than done :-(

You ever take Soma's with your drugs to potentiate the high? When 1 Vicodin wasnt giving me a buzz anymore, I popped a Soma & I was floored, the high felt great!

I've got the same problem. :| I fucking despise spending so much and risking so much and not getting high.

Here's the potentiators that provide the best boost ime - just switch em up daily.

- Black seed oil, supplement, also great for withdrawal and mental/physical well-being, increased euphoria and duration

- Kava kava, supplement that acts as a natural benzo (well, as much as anything can). I like Happy Camper brand that contains other supplements, works better than other pills I've tried and I can't stand the tea.

- Meclizine, antihistamine (Dramamine 2 I think, but don't quote me on that...), increases sedation, far better than other otc antihistamines imo

- DXM works best for me when I take 45-60mg at night and dose in the am.

- Presecriptions - benzos, barbs, Hydroxizine, Soma, Lyrica, Neurontin, Tramadol

And of course, weed always boosts my buzz.

yea after doing it for so long you have to do so much that you get physically addicted, and then you have to do it just to feel normal.

So your not really immune but your brain will eventually get so used to opiates that it will stop producing the chemicals itself, so unless you do pain killers you will feel sick from lack of the "happy" natural chemical levels

Thanks for the replies and suggestions, ladies :-)

H Girl, yeah, dxm is one of the few things that still sends me into outer space, but its tough to know if it's just the dxm or that with the dilaudid.

Last night around midnight I wolfed down 30 robo soft gels... 90 mins later, when it started to kick in, I let 16mg of dilaudid into the party, followed by some amitriptalyne.

All I remember is around 4am it felt like it was all wearing off and I thought, "hmm, all that junk and I didn't really get too far past the launch pad," but everything between then and when I finally went to bed at 11am is a total blur, so I must have went into orbit while I was in the bathroom trying to pee :-)

I had forgotten, at least for me, how long it can take dxm to really kick in. Last night, it was 5 hours after fueling up that it really took over. Would it have been as strong if dilaudid and amitriptalyne weren't part of the recipe?

Mankind may never know the answer.

dilaudid is notorious for how fast it builds tolerance, so dont beat yourself up too much about it [if you are]. its like, one day you need 8, then the 12, then 18. That fast. otherwise its my favourite opiate when injected, by far [if they still made easy-to-rig up morphine tabs, and if east coast heroin was anywhere near pure, maybe 2nd or 3rd]. USP Hydromorphone IV fluid is about twice as good as grade iv heroin IMO. for some reason it lasts about 5x longer than dissolved dilaudid pill matter, maybe because its pH is formulated to be equi-potent with other routes. for example, a Dilaudid 8 mg IR pill is made to dissolve immediately in your stomach; thus when prepared for injection, it stays the same, and doesnt work as well relatively. your body probably metabolizes it in a faulty way because its not made for injection [dunno how it works exactly but ive read this several times]. the IV grade dilly lasted as long as morphine or less, like heroin, and gives you the same rush as dilly always does. a fantastic find when i found it in back in my Halifax days. gotta love a city full of hospitals and corrupt authority attitude 8) or not hehe...barf... but it was obv. cleaner than H, so the fact it had a better rush and cost about the same made it better. i mean the only reason one would prefer H to dilaudid pills is because it lasts longer. since iv-grade D lasts even longer than H it kicked ass! just it builds a tolerance quicker for some reason. a 50 mg/ml vial was very cheap, considering all you had to do was dip your needle and pull. i would sometimes shoot up to 35 mg at once cuz my tolernace build soooo fast. i wish i knew why it lasted so much longer than injecting water + dilaudid pills.... obv. because it is formulated for injection in the first place, but i just dont understand the science. anyone?

I think this thread has ran its course now--there isn't actually opioid immunity (except in the case of actual allergies) just tolerance. I'm going to go ahead and close it up, OP please PM me if you have any concerns about this.
