As far as I've always read, the longer you take opiates, the more your tolerance grows, and so the more you need to take for the desired effect.
I've been taking dilaudid (hydromorphone) daily for two and a half years; I started with plugging 4mg at a time and about 6 months ago crossed the line into the world of IV - and I'm now up to 16mg per session (not all in one shot - I break up the 16mg into 2 or 3 shots)
The trouble is I just don't get high anymore, no matter how much I take. Just now, as an experiment, over the course of the last 2 hours i've shot up 32mg of dilaudid and don't feel a thing.
Is this normal? I wish I could at least take a huge hit now and then for an occasional high but it doesn't seem like its possible.
Can people become immune? I mean if I'm in withdrawals injecting def brings me back to normal, and the drugs still manage the pain, but "the fun" has all but died out.
Sigh.
