Is it ok to give psychedelics to people at a festival?

Dear bluelight,

Is it ok to give people lsd or psychedelic mushrooms for free at festivals?

Please tell me what you think.
 
If they know exactly what you're giving them, then I'd say yes. Although I'm usually wary of strangers giving me free drugs.
 
If I have psychedelics and am asked for some, then yeah, I'll give em out. Approaching complete strangers is just stupid though.
 
Just make sure your giving it to the right people.
Ask a few questions before offering, make sure they can handle it and aren't an undercover.
Believe it or not there are people who have no idea how to dose psyches but are more than willing to experiment.
Dosage can be so sensitive that some newbies using just a little to much could ruin there night or maybe even make them freak out and call an ambulance.

I know I wouldn't mind some free psyches at a rave or festival! =D
 
I think right and wrong on the subjective level of human experience has to do with your own intentions....the most one can do in a given situation is to do what one feels is right.

Right and wrong on the level of inherent existence outside human exp is arguable philosophically. However, I feel the closest we can get to measuring right and wrong outside of ourselves and our own actions is to observe cause and effect. Harmony and disharmony are observable by reactions in the environment and/or beings surrounding the given occurrance. Some actions are reacted to by positive emotions and are conducive to the general wellbeing ofnthe surroundings. While other actions promote dissonance in humans and destruction in eco systems, seemingly bad vibes all around.

Using this system of right/wrong measurements however leaves your question up to speculation. Lol

The effect of giving someone a psychedelic is certainly unpredictable, though from what I've seen psychedelics used responsibly and respectfully tend to be beneficial and 'harmony promoting'. So if your assessment of the individual points towards harmonious potentials then it would certainly be not wrong...maybe even right lol.

I guess you just gotta hone your abilities of assessing psychedelic paths of potential if you wanna be 'in the right' and still turn on the masses lol. I wouldn't personally dose someone who was 'fucked up at a glance...but that's my own idea, I don't feel intoxication is conducive to psychedelic evolution/transcendance, and I'd want my psychedelic to have the chance to shine in a lucid mind lol

I'd imagine there's a certain vibe or feeling to 'the right time to turn someone on, just feel it out when the time comes. Or ponder until then to refine your sense of determining such. I'm stoned hope this helped, might not have though lol8)

If you can, educate the people you are giving it to.
 
As long as your mindful of who you give it to, and don't run around dosing random people with a vial of liqqy.
There was a lot of freak outs at that festival.

^I disagree profoundly with Mr. Leary (nothing unusual there). I'm a self-loathing, often-melancholic, sometimes fatalistic, low velocity, not that healthy person, and I haven't had any regrettable experiences with psychs, and if anything they can serve as reminders to lighten up from time to time.


If somebody wants to do a psych, and you believe they'll be able to use it in a responsible manner, I say go ahead and spread the love dude.
 
I don't "give" people psychedelic experiences unless they ASK for them.

....seriously though, I used to think it was cool to push the psychedelic experience on my friends who didn't know what it was all about...but there were a few instances that made me realize that this kind of thing should really only be for those that seek it.
 
No, I think it's a terrible idea. By all means give it free to a friend who you think will enjoy the experience and be responsible enough to do it safely. Just giving it to any half-pissed 17 year old who walks by shouting "Give us some drugs dude!" - nah.

Amen to that. All the most troubled people I know got the most from psychedelics. Some of the happier ones had a terrible time.

Obviously "troubled" doesn't mean schizophrenic, psychotic etc.
 
^ Yeah I'm with this, I have found acid has taught me that every person has their positives AND their negatives. It's natural.

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Leary's work, although overall it didn't have the affect he intended I have heard of the psychedelic experience at such extreme amounts can work like a virus. It knocks the ego down, but only for it to rebuilt stronger in order to prepare for the next experience.

That comment to me says that this is how Leary saw himself, as he was clearly seeking these experiences, I think I could argue the egotistical rationale behind that quote, whether it was conscious or not.

Again don't get me wrong, I respect Leary's work a lot ;)

I would not give psychedelics to some 17-year old drug heads. The situation I am imagining would include me talking to a person for some time. I would simply recognize his "grade" of tolerance concerning drugs, also his "grade" of intelligence. Not that I would be able to judge it absolutely, but I guess one can get a feeling for it.

So a friend of a friend but not a complete stranger.

Pretty hard to judge someone like that - I've met people who seem perfectly normal but are 3 months out of the mental hospital. You can't tell unless you've know someone for a pretty long time.
 
I'd like to add that if they seem knowledgeable about substances, then that might be a sign that it is okay. For example, someone who understands what the psychedelic experience is about and doesn't just want to "see crazy shit man." Cause I definitely know people (people that I am not friends with for various reasons) that look at psychedelic drugs as just another high and don't understand why they have bad trips because in their mind, psychedelics should provide a positive high every time like opiates, alcohol, etc.

There is almost this subconscious connection I make with people that are "tuned in" just by making eye contact. Its weird but it feels like I know if the person I am about to meet is a kind, educated soul vs. a douchey, obnoxious bro. I have given someone a psychedelic at a festival before but I had sat down and spoken this guy for a while and he was much older than me as well as educated about psychedelics and definitely seemed like he could handle his stuff. I can't explain it, he just had this knowing smile on his face.

Maybe that isn't the best criteria but I just had that feeling about him when I met him and that is rare for me.
