Benzos Is it normal when you take Diazepam...

See when I do that as soon as my head hits the pillow am out for the count

I find the best is to take a few, have a hot shower and a cold beer (just one) and then chill with some trance

then go to bed :)

For your speech and general behaviour to be slow the day after?

I took probably about 80mg, possibly more and the day after, even though I felt sober, my girlfriend kept commenting that I was slurring my words and talking and acting really reallly slow.

Is this normal and is there anything to do to reduce that?

Cheers guys

Diazepam is a benzodiazepine with a long half-life, it is normal to have residual effects up to 24-36 hours after a high dose if you don't take it every day and do not have tolerance.

Thanks for the good advice man, I had zero tolerance, I'm wondering how 80mg didn't just ruin me, although it was spread over about 3 or 4 hours

Diazepam is rapidly absorbed after oral administration with an onset of action 15-45 minutes after oral intake and reaching peak plasma 30-90 minutes after dosing (on diazepam plasma peak corresponds to the peak in the cerebrospinal fluid). The main effect lasts for about 8 hours but the residual effects prolonged on average 24 hours after mild-high dose in a person without tolerance.

Lol way too much for a beginner, it's common for newbies to not realize how high they are on benzos and keep taking more luckily it's hard to fatally OD on benzos alone.

Bingo. And you always feel 'fine' on benzos so you don't realize how it's effecting you, even the next day after taking a large dose like you did. That's why so many people get DUI's and do dumb shit on benzos, because they think they are fine and that whatever they think to do is a good idea. That's partially why it's effective in treating anxiety, since it lowers your inhibitions and makes you feel like everything is A-OK.

BTW I was prescribed 10mg of valium a day for over 3 years (and xanax for 5 years prior to that) and I never took as large of a dose as you did. I admit that I had abused xanax when I was scripted that, but once I got on valium I was content on tapering down but even on the 2 days a month that I would take extras I never went above 60mg which was still high for me even with my history of benzo abuse.

yea, Im not sure how the sublingual BA works though, so might not be the best method. Come on genius mods, get involved here...Where are you Sekio.

never should have given Mr. Scag the boot. Now OD is gonna be shit-show..

You don't need "genius mods" to answer simple questions.

Their is no benefit in sublingual administration. The BA is, at best, the same as oral. And there would be no increase in cmax, or decrease in tmax.

It would be exactly the same as oral. If anything, peak effect might actually be decreased, as most benzo's have an increased duration sublingually, but with diazepams high lipid solubility, it would likely be just as fast as oral.

Oral diazepam is rapidly and completely absorbed, with a bioavailability of ~90%, and a tmax of around 1hr. It is literally one of the most effective drugs orally, on all counts. Even IV administration offers no benefit, aside from an instant onset, obviously.

Yea, please tell me an other drugs forum you knew that wasn't going to mess with the effects of benzos like that. I've done both of diazepam and noticed no differences. You took a crazy high dose though man. No shit you were slurring your words... And Valium will last so long you'll want it to be over... Hm. That's crazy. I'm impressed kind of you didn't fall out-- I did on my first Valium experience. Asleep in two hours, woke up with slurred speech. Don't get addicted; nasty withdrawals, absolutely awful.

I really have no idea how I wasn't comatose

There's no chance of getting addicted to these, I was lucky (?) to get a few hundred, once they're gone they're gone, I have no source and really no desire for them once these are gone. MDMA and Weed is my thing.

I can deffo see how they can be so addictive though, they start hitting like 30 minutes afer taking and you feel very very relaxed and happy.

I've taken 40mg in the past hour and feel good.

Out of interest how many/how long does it take for you to start withdrawing when you stop?

All good then.
Just enjoying them with some Dave 202 - Rain Against Her

And a two ice cold bottles of large Peroni. Mmmm

And I don't even have to care about slurred speach tomorrow because the girlfriend is away, yassss!
