With suboxone and methadone being around now and its avaibility, is it even a big deal to be dependent on opiates? I dont understand why addicts dont go into methadone or suboxone maintence if it will keep them well and they dont have to worry about coping off the streets. I dont know maybe its just me but opiate/opiod addiction just doesnt seem like a big deal because of all the treatment options that are now commonly avaible

Um. Yeah. It's still a big deal. The draw is getting high. Not maintenance. That's why people pawn everything they own before hitting bottom and going the maintenance route.

Man, it's about the brain cells not the options to get off the shit. Some folks are just wired to want/need drugs such as opiates AND there are millions of folks who really need them to live a half normal life. Hell, I can't even hold down a full time job due to my physical limitations. I don't know where I'd be without my meds. Hell, and I say this in total sarcasm, you know the whole "lead a horse to water" bit? Well, just because there are solutions out there doesn't mean any junkie will suddenly wake up and go, hey I can stop this crazy shit with sub or whatever. Not happening! Addicts just "usually" don't think like that.

It most certainly is a big deal and when coming off/tapering it gets inside your head, making things seem tougher.
Your brain bears a grudge against you big time ! ;)

Are you serious with a question like this? It is beyond offensive and small minded.

Those maintenance meds often times prove harder to come off and have more side effects then the drugs one used them to come off of. Read around this site to see all the pain, misery, and frustration surrounding methadone and suboxone, how hard it is to come off, and how many people wished they'd never even started with them.

Please do some research before posting something like that.

Agree with last 3 posts..surely this is a troll type question!

I would love for you to come walk in my shoes for one day, just one day. You will be so thankful to leave and would never question the hell that is opiate addiction again.

Head go 'xplodey. Try walking into the middle of whitechapel or patterson, nj or somewhere and you'd last about .7 seconds before you were lying bloody in the gutter. Wake up in the hospital with no shoes and no wallet, if you were lucky :p

Replace methadone and bupe with 'cheap, pure heroin available at any time, guaranteed to never run out, instead of programs administered by cunts' and it might be considered less of a big deal.
